Unfortunately this issue will be kicked over to CalTrans. The new contraction along the 880 has allowed the 'Writers' even better access to the historic Cotton Mill brick walls.
Caltrans has told the City they will do abatement when the highway project is completed. 'Fat Chance'

I wonder if there is any pressure we can apply to CalTrans to get them to clean it up now rather than waiting the years it will take for the work to be completed?

Perhaps send a complaint to the "What's not working - Chronicle Watch" columnist at the Chronicle? The column is behind their paywall now but they do seem to be able to get public attention to chronic problems like this. Anybody have photos? When I go by, I'm always driving.

Please take some and upload them here and/or send them to Chronicle Watch. It sounds like you've had go-rounds with OPW about this before? (And why isn't it on the property owners to clean this up?)

CalTrans owns the wall. when the state cut the Cottonmill in 1/2 and ran the freeway through it, highway workers used reclaimed bricks from the building for the sound wall.
