55th Street And Dover Intersection Oakland, California - BushrodA crosswalk has been needed for years at the intersection of 55th Street and Dover, between MLK and Shattuck Avenue. Cars drive at advanced speeds and pass other cars since the street is quite wide (even with the addition of the bike lanes neighbors suggested). Due to its location between several freeway on and off ramps, along with the street's width, drivers treat this stretch of road as a freeway extension. At the residential intersection of 55th and Dover, residents and neighborhood visitors and Children's Hospital Oakland employees (often children and seniors) routinely cross to reach the hospital, the popular Dover Street Park (@Dover/59th), the North Senior Oakland Senior Center, CHORI, and the bus stops (two well-used AC Transit lines run down 55th Street) on either side of the street. Although not a formal bike route, Dover Street is also heavily utilized by bicyclists. Crossing for pedestrians and bikers is often an impossible task due to the lack of signage and a steady stream of speeding cars (some passing other cars in the oncoming lane at even higher speeds). It is particularly difficult to cross during the winter, when residents coming home from work must disembark from buses and try to cross the street after dark (and sometimes in the rain). Pedestrians, bicyclists, and drivers would benefit greatly from a large reflective thermoplast crosswalk and reflective signage at 55th/Dover to alert drivers to the presence of pedestrians (particularly children and seniors) for whom they should slow down.
6101-6151 Overdale Avenue Oakland, California - MillsmontHi! There have been 4 fatal or near fatal accidents in the last month at or very near the Overdale / Seminary intersection in Oakland. People drive extremely fast on Seminary and exit at extremely fast speeds from the 580E / 13 exit. Please place a 4 way stop or stoplight at this intersection immediately.
1300-1354 34th Street Oakland, California - ClawsonThe gazebo is a site of illegal prostitution and drug use with the dumping of needles, alcohol bottles and condoms. The garbage is also attracting rodents and feral cats. The state of this gazebo poses a clear health and safety risk to the community.

Park Blvd (From Oakland High To E-18th Street) Oakland, California - Rancho San AntonioLack of Speed Limit Signs on Park Blvd:
Most drivers are not aware of the speed limit on Park Blvd from Oakland High School - E-18th Street
"is 25 MPH"
1) We will need to post more speed limit signs (currently only ONE is in place)
2) We need to educate the drivers about the speed limit.
3) We need to monitor it.
4) Then, we need to enforce it and prosecute on those who do not obey the traffic laws.
Traffic Engineering Dept and OPD - we need your help, please
4871 Park Boulevard Piedmont, California - GlenviewThere is a sinkhole developing on Park Blvd across from St. James that is about 6" deep and getting deeper. It is likely associated with work that was recently completed in that location and I suspect related to leaking water pipes. It is dangerous due to its location in the street and depth. At a minimum promenant barricades should be erected until it's repaired. Really, take a look, this one is bad.
471-517 Lake Park Avenue Oakland, California - Lakeshore
A Queen Palm was demolished earlier today when a car westbound on Lake Park skidded out of control. This is not an emergency since he tree has already been removed.
While I the hope the driver wasn't seriously injured, this incident raises two distinct issues:
#1: This was the third of the Queen Palms that were installed in 2003 as part of the Splash Pad project that were destroyed by out of control vehicles. On the first two occasions, as far as I know, no efforts were made by the city to sue for damages that would be used to plant replacement palms. An established Queen Palm this size is going to run about $600 -$700 and delivery and installation will double that price. Since the Public Works Department is extremely short-staffed and lacking in funds, this latest palm is not going to be replaced unless the driver's insurance company foots the bill. As we all know, the city is being sued constantly--often for far less clear-cut reasons. How about us trying to level the playing field?
#2: There have been numerous accidents on this short stretch of Lake Park -- typically cars speeding as they come off the freeway and/or speeding up to try and make the green light on Grand. The palm in the median across from KFC was destroyed several years ago and not replaced. The one today was across from Chao Thai. Another three palms in that median are heavily scarred from earlier accidents. I'd strongly suggest that Traffic Engineering look into installation of signs that warn of a curve ahead and/or 25mph speed limit signs or whatever else may do the trick.
3860 Hanly Rd Oakland, California - OakmoreBoth slides at Dimond Park have been boarded up and unusable for 6+. They need to be replaced or fixed so that kids can slide at the park! One slide is in the playground by the rec center, and the other is at the bottom of the park where Dimond St enters it.
5435 Macarthur Boulevard Oakland, California - Maxwell ParkThe bend in the road where MacArthur meets Millsview needs a stop sign in both directions or speed bumps to slow drivers down. Drivers speed up and down MacArthur after the lights turn green at 55th and at the Mills entrance. I've only lived in this neighborhood two years and have twice seen that speeding cars coming down MacArthur have lost control coming around the bend and have crossed on-coming traffic and plowed thru the chain link fence into the Mills campus! Every time I drive up MacArthur around that bend, cars coming down the street cross the double yellow line because they are speeding and can not control their vehicles. Cars have come into my lane as much as 3 feet speeding towards me! There's also a cross walk across MacArthur at that intersection; the perfect place for a stop sign so pedestrians don't have to try to cross the street while drivers speed by at 40 MPH or faster. Something needs to be done to slow cars in both directions immediately!
56th And Adeline Oakland, California - Santa Fe
Adeline Street in Oakland from the Emeryville border north to 61st Street is being repaved and re-striped with a road diet and buffered bicycle lanes (great!), but no new marked crosswalks are being added along this entire stretch as part of the project, even though they are warranted by the city's own design policies (See http://www2.oaklandnet.com/oakca/groups/pwa/documents/report/oak025058.pdf).
The city's crosswalk decision matrix recommends marked crosswalks be installed when there is a gap between existing crosswalks of 900 feet or more. The existing gap between the marked crosswalks at 54th and Market is over 1100 feet and the gap from Market to 61st is over 1600 feet.
As such, I am requesting that three new crosswalks be striped across Adeline at 56th, Arlington, and 59th Streets. None of these streets are skewed or T intersections, so no parking spots will need to be removed or curb ramps will need to be added in order to stripe the crosswalks there. The crosswalks can either be at the north or south leg of these intersections (or both), based on sight lines or other design criteria.
