I was a little surprised to find out that the crosswalk on Pontiac Trail just south of Arrowwood was not getting a crossing island as part of the repaving project. Now I realize that the crossing at Taylor is probably in the same boat, as is the one at Brookside. So, when are these crosswalks planned to get pedestrian crossing islands?

This crosswalk island is called for in the City's Nonmotorized Plan, from 2013. It's listed under "Near-term Opportunities", and the section on crossings specifically says that this kind of island should be done before a reconstruction project. "The Near-term Opportunities Recommendations were designed to be cost-effective and easily implemented by minor changes such as re-
striping the existing road surface and the additions of crossing islands. These simple solutions will enhance bicycle and pedestrian conditions quickly and easily until the road is expanded or major reconstruction is undertaken."
Could someone please explain why a City Council-adopted planning document is being ignored here?
