For the past several mornings as I walk pass 7806 to 7810 Lauderdale Road SW I have been smelling gas. Since I tend to walk down the middle of the street it is hard for me to pin-point the exact location of the smell. I am also a very early morning walker so the gas has not been dispersed by any vehicles passing through the area.
It has been my experience that every time I try to report gas leaks via the telephone the individual taking the call questions my ability to smell gas unless the smell is so over whelming! If memory serves me, a gas leak was reported in this same area a couple of years ago.
Further, I am again beginning to smell gas between 9015 to 9019 Craigmont Road SW. In this case the smell of gas is very faint and would be hard to pin-point. One morning when it was foggy the smell of gas was more prominent. I know of two times since 2016 that a gas leak was reported and fix in this area.
I know how to distinguish between the smell of a natural gas leak and fumes coming from a sewer drain.

Apparently the leak became bad enough that a nearby resident was able to pinpoint the leak at the Lauderdale Road location and it was fixed late one night a couple of days after this report was sent.
On the Craigmont Road site I saw a city employee trying to locate the leak but not sure he was able to pinpoint it because the leak appears to be a minor one at this time. Only time will tell.
So it would make sense to close this issue.
I would like to know what is the best way to report a leak when one cannot pinpoint the location of the leak or the leak appears to be a minor one.
