This more of a Sinkhole than a pothole.

Back in July of 2023 I reported a water leak in this same area (Issue #14943394). Have to wonder if the underlying issue is soil erosion due to that water leak.

How can this be safe? These wires are hanging extremely low and have to be inferring with the equipment that picks up trash. The lowest point seems to be only 8 to 10 feet from the ground.

This picture is in front of the house that sits on the East side of Lauderdale Road where it intersects with Logan Drive. The wires in front of 7803 Lauderdale Road are also hanging extremely low.

Commerce Parkway Subdivision construction site's water runoff retention system is failing. Barrier put in place to prevent small debris from flowing into drain system has shifted and no longer functional. This is just after one rainstorm.

There is a water leak in the grassy portion of the street next to the curb. The location is between the address listed and 8014 Lauderdale Road.

It has been leaking for some time but in the last week water is now accumulating along the curb and running to the nearest storm drain.

There appears to be a couple of places in the middle of the street that water is leaking from underneath the pavement. Doesn't look like it's been leaking all that long. I just noticed it this morning.

There is a dead opossum laying in the curb.

I called Animal Services yesterday and left a message concerning this animal.

Today (July 25th) at 0500 the animal was still there.

Water is bubbling up from a gap in the curb about 10 feet South of the mailbox. Reddish water is flowing in both directions to the nearest drains. The rate of bubbling is equal to that of a meditation fountain. And it looks like it's been leaking for some time.

A request was issued for litter removal at the subject residence. The reply from Huntsville Landscape Management was for the resident to send an email to an individual at the Huntsville Times/al.com to stop a Mr. Edward Manuel (a private company owner not associated with the Huntsville Times/al.com) from throwing his business card into our yards.

If I may so bold as to point out the “ABSURIDITY” of this suggested resolution. And I would love for someone to explain to how that works.

A better suggestion is for someone from Operation Green Team to give Edward Manuel a call at 256-477-9197 and inform Mr. Manuel that though his method of soliciting for business (plastic bag with pebbles and a business card thrown onto one’s property) does not violate Alabama’s Litter Law but the city continuously receives complaints from such practices.

Suggest to Mr. Manuel that he should consider advertising his services on social platforms such as Nextdoor, Facebook Market Place, etc.

And in the meantime, the City via the City Council should consider drafting an ordinance to prevent this kind of Littering!

Looks like the water is coming from multiple areas in the road. the flow of water to the nearest storm drain sounds like the flow after a medium to heavy rainstorm.

The address given for this issue is the closest identifiable mailbox to the water leak. The leak is actually on the opposite side of Ensley Drive from this mailbox. Therefore, the leak is on the property of 7700 Logan Drive which sits on the corner lot of the intersection of Logan Drive and Ensley Drive.

It is a small leak emanating from the grassy portion between it and the vertical section of the curb.

It doesn't appear that 7700 Logan Drive has a sprinkler system since I only see one water meter about 20 feet South of the leak. There is also a fire hydrant at the Logan and Ensley intersection.

The light blinks off even when dark.

I didn't mark the light pole with tape because the light pole is in the Northwest corner of the intersection of Randall Road and Whittier Road. It's the only light pole near this intersection.

For the past several mornings as I walk pass 7806 to 7810 Lauderdale Road SW I have been smelling gas. Since I tend to walk down the middle of the street it is hard for me to pin-point the exact location of the smell. I am also a very early morning walker so the gas has not been dispersed by any vehicles passing through the area.

It has been my experience that every time I try to report gas leaks via the telephone the individual taking the call questions my ability to smell gas unless the smell is so over whelming! If memory serves me, a gas leak was reported in this same area a couple of years ago.

Further, I am again beginning to smell gas between 9015 to 9019 Craigmont Road SW. In this case the smell of gas is very faint and would be hard to pin-point. One morning when it was foggy the smell of gas was more prominent. I know of two times since 2016 that a gas leak was reported and fix in this area.

I know how to distinguish between the smell of a natural gas leak and fumes coming from a sewer drain.

The street light pole near this house occasionally blinks off even when dark.

I tried to mark it with on orange ribbon, but I see that the ribbon fell to the bottom portion of the pole. I will try to raise it higher the next time I walk by it.

The streetlight at the main entrance to Kent Robertson Park is blinking off even when dark.
  • 7504 Craigmont Cir Sw Huntsville, Alabama, 35802 - Huntsville

The light is totally burned out.

Since this is a "no outlet" street and there are only two streetlights on the street, it is the first light one comes to. Another identifier is that the light pole sits between two medium size bushes.

  • 7912 Craigmont Rd Sw Huntsville, Alabama, 35802 - Huntsville

There is a tree on the Eastern side of this property and near the drainage ditch that has some tree limbs that hang low over the Road such that high-profile vehicles will hit them.

This same tree has an even lower limb that hangs partially over the sidewalk and partially over the grass median between the sidewalk and road.

  • 7620 Logan Dr Sw Huntsville, Alabama, 35802 - Huntsville

There is a tree or bush which has branches that hang over the sidewalk by the gate on the Eastern side of Kent Robertson Park. The gate that only allows a single person to pass through.

Even as a short person I was wacked in the face by a branch. Granted it was dark at the time...

The light appears to be totally burned out. The light pole is about equal distance between 7800 Ensley and 7710 Ensley. It is also on the Ensley side of the intersection of Ensley and Hilton Drive. I tried to mark it with a whiteish piece of tape.
