I have lived near Bathurst and Lake Shore for 23 years. There has always been a 'No Left Turn' sign stopping left turns from Bathurst onto Fleet St. except for TTC vehicles. This has been respected for many years. However, with the growth of condos along Fleet St., this sign is abused on a regular basis. To prove my point, I stood at the corner of Fleet and Bathurst on July 30. I stood there for only an hour, 4.15 to 5.15. During that time, no fewer than 52 vehicles made illegal turns onto Fleet. I have at least three photos of each car making the illegal turn with license plate numbers. I have not seen a police presence here in 10 years. I once discussed a TTC street car driver about the whole intersection problem. His opinion was that the police have given up. I hope to include a few photos, but if I can't, I can produce them at any time.

Nothing has changed. No legislation, no police presence, no political will, no nothing. what is the point of protesting when nothing changes? What does iot take to get something done?

Nothing changes. The police remark how terrible the corner is and say they are waiting for political direction. The councillor stops answering emails concerning this problem. There is no word from any department concerning it. Why is there no interest in making this intersection safe for all concerned? Is it because they don't live near here? Out of sight, out of mind?

When will the police earn their pay and police this intersection? Are they afraid? Are there other interests wishing to keep chaos here? This problem has only been exacerbated by the blatant law breakers who live in the new condo towers. Most know they are making illegal turns but, since the intersection is never policed, they know they can get away with it.

They are policing it on occasion. Weekdays around 4 pm I watch them handing out tickets. There is also a new sign closer to the intersection, but people ignore it just like they ignored the sign that was there for years.

Maybe with more complaints some action might be taken. I can't believe the police are not aware of this intersectional problems. Are they being told by the politicians to lay off?

I totally agree this is a very bad intersection and poorly designed to begin with.
There is also a 'no right turn on red' sign from Lakeshore to Bathurst which no one obeys.
There should be a crackdown in this dangerous intersection before someone gets run over.

It's still the same and won't change until after the election and then only if councillors care enough. That means, especially, Mike layton, if he is re-elected and whoever wins in Trinity Spadina

I will continue to keep this issue open until something is done to stop illegal last turns. I see that during the PamAm Games, there is a police presence at the intersection and it has kept these turns at a minimum. What happens when the games are over? I had a heated conversation with a driver's wife who said to me that it is difficult for a driver at that corner for the first time. I asked her if she could read traffic signs posted?
