Huge agree that this should be a 4-way stop. I am both a frequent pedestrian and a frequent driver through that intersection. When I'm in a car I wish it were a four-way stop. It feels dangerous when I have to pull out from 67th onto Hollis, especially when turning left. When I'm a pedestrian I wish it were a four-way stop. It feels dangerous anytime I am crossing the intersection due to the speed with which cars speed down Hollis.

Yes! I agree about the issue with drivers coming around the curve of the road too fast, but there are other issues depending on time of day and traffic conditions. I got t-boned at this intersection by someone trying to cross Hollis on 67th--when Hollis was bumper to bumper in afternoon rush hour traffic. I was only going 25 mph. She zipped across the line of traffic right into me. Fortunately I saw her in time to slow down and veer away so it was a more glancing blow. Other driver was okay and I walked away (but my car took $11,000 in damage).

I work right by here and there's a serious accident at this intersection almost every month. Judging by the sound of horns and screeching tires, there's a near miss just about every day. How many accidents have to occur before something happens?! Someone will be seriously injured here or worse if this intersection remains as is.

This intersection is going to kill someone. There have been multiple accidents in the past week. THIS. SHOULD. BE. A. 4-WAY. STOP. I implore the city of Emeryville to act quickly and prevent a potential fatality.

I also work right by this intersection and have witnessed multiple accidents in the past week. I urge the city of Emeryville to act quickly and make this intersection a four-way stop. Someone is going to die or get seriously injured soon.

I also work by this intersection and walk, bike, and drive through it regularly. With the constant near misses (both witnessed and heard) and the accidents (almost monthly) I am confident a 4 way stop here would make a significant difference. Especially as people come back to work post-pandemic this problem is going to get worse again.

It may also be helpful to lower to speed limit for the southbound drivers on hollis - cars should not be speeding in a such a heavy pedestrian area.

There have been two accidents at this intersection over the past two weeks, the earlier of which resulted in airbag deployment and the driver needing to exit the vehicle from the passenger side. For every accident, I swear there are ten close calls. I hear horn honks and screeching tires almost daily. I've seen a car pull out from 67th right in front of the Emery-Go-Round bus - thankfully the bus driver kept it from becoming an accident. People who are not familiar with this intersection put everyone in serious danger when they speed through it on Hollis or try to shoot the gap crossing it on 67th. Whenever I'm dropped off at work by an Uber driver, I always warn them about this intersection. At one point Berkeley PD was doing speed patrols and pulling a lot of people over as they sped around the curve on 67th, but that appears to have stopped, and I believe the only thing that will really change behavior at this intersection is to put in an obvious 4-way stop with flags or a flashing light to get people's attention.

I witnessed both the recent crashes over the past two weeks. Thankfully everyone involved walked away. City of Emeryville it is time to step up and protect this area. It is time to install a 4 way stop sign at this intersection. The flashing light idea Scott had is also a great idea. Stop sign warning lights or signs before the turn heading southbound could help warn people before the turn.

I work for a company in the area, and I think it's a no-brainer to turn this intersection into a 4-way stop. I've had several close calls here both as a pedestrian and driver. City of Emeryville, PLEASE make our roads safer!

I also saw both accidents last week. As a bicyclist who bikes through this intersection every day, I am scared to think about what would happen if there was a car on bike accident instead of a car on car accident. This is an incredibly dangerous intersection that the City has been aware of for over a year and has done nothing. This is unacceptable and needs to change.
