Description
Please stop the valet service at 2101 Webster Street from routinely double parking in and blocking the dedicated bike lanes as part of its normal operations. This is not a once-in-a-while thing, but every day. Please send parking enforcement to ticket these vehicles and encourage the valet service to move operations to a more suitable location.

I posted this over a year ago with photos, copied it to the City of Oakland Bike Coordinator (Jennifer Stanley), and sent a letter to the property management firm. It's a bit of a farce that the city responds that they will request parking enforcement. If a restaurant took up a sidewalk (public right of way) without a permit they would get the book thrown at them. This is no different, except that it involves safety and it's just a matter of time before a bicyclist gets hit.
The building management is CIM Group LP, 2101 Webster St, Oakland, California 94612-3011. I encourage folks to send them letters and cc: the city (Jennifer and Lynette).

This is, of course, an ongoing issue. This past week, not only were cars with the valet service doubleparked when there was still space along the white curb (drivers and valet are just too lazy to parallel in), but some CIM Brandywine employee shuttle doubleparked next to the doubleparked cars, forcing ALL traffic including bicycles into the far left lane. I got really mad and stopped my bike and yelled at all the people to move along.
Today, I happened to be walking to work instead of biking and noticed this big sign along 21st Street. I have attached a photo for you guys. It actually indicates that the same valet service operates for both the 2101 Webster and the 2100 Franklin street office buildings. Notice that there is a long, white, unused curb available on 21st Street. I think the city should really push to move the valet stand to that stretch of 21st Street. I have no idea why it is not located there in the first place?!?!?! It's a fairly simple solution and minimally changes their existing operations, if at all.
Which city agency has jurisdiction over this type of thing?
If the ACE Parking valet people or building administration refuse to stop doubleparking or move their valet service to 21st Street, I have an idea for a simple action we bicyclists could stage that would be a pain in their butts and would not harm any cars (or people)! Who is with me?
