  Spinouts caused by the loose gravel have caused accidents, as well as damage to parked vehicles. As a resident on Brighton Avenue since 1980, I can attest that the street is in by far the worst condition I have ever seen it, far worse than the two "overlays" done during g the past 40 years.

  Some of this extensive damage may have been caused by the groundwater pumping done by Alameda County's contractor on and off for many years, who was later allowed by the City of Oakland to replace just a narrow section of street asphalt along the east curb that quickly unraveled and caused the rest of the street to unravel even faster.

  This one block section of Brighton Avenue is a major accident waiting to happen.

  I also notice that Waste management goes down the street twice for every pick up. Imagine if they just went down one side of the street instead of twice!!? At would at least cut the damage in half. Those trucks have to weigh 20 tons or so. We also had some sewage work done a few summers ago. Afterwards they only patched where they dug, but then had to come back THREE TIMES fix whatever they didn't do right. Businesses(contractors) get away with anything. Revenue is revenue to Oakland...

  The street is so dangerous as it is deteriorating before our very eyes. The combination of loose gravel and steep inclines/declines have resulted in people (children and adults) falling and cars skidding into other vehicles. So far, there hasn't been a serious injury but it is a high risk given the state of this street. Please re-pave it as soon as possible. Thank you!

  The 90+ yo neighbor slid under the car trying to get in and needed assistance getting up.

  On multiple occasions the garbage collectors have also slid and almost fallen getting out of their truck and stepping on the loose gravel.

  My young family members are not allowed to cross the street due to the excessive loose gravel and the increased risk of falling. They must hold onto an adult to make sure they don’t slip. The adult has to walk like there is ice in the road due to how loose the gravel is. Super dangerous!

  When I park in front of my house and apply the parking brake it is guaranteed that the car will slide over the gravel, so I have had to wait for the car to stop sliding before getting out.

  We had a neighbor apply the brakes to pull into his driveway and slid 2 feet and hit the side of our car. The gravel road was again the cause. No traction.

  Country gravel roads are cool, but not in the CITY we call home.

  Oakland doesnt care...however they "acknowledge" or send you emails saying your complaint has been outstanding for however amount of days. Maybe they should hire "contractors" like the school district did last year...42 million later...

  I have nearly slipped on the gravel covering the street on more than one occasion. We had friends visit for Halloween and one of their kids slipped on the gravel and fell. His arm and leg were pretty scraped up. I am also concerned that all the dust from the gravel being churned up all day is impacting air quality on our street. I sincerely hope our stretch of Brighton will be included in an improvement plan soon.

  Brighton and Hample between Park and Greenwood are safety hazards. As someone who bicycles a lot in the area, I worry about flipping over on these streets and having to swerve to avoid potholes may cause drivers and pedestrians to be involved in a collision. This is definitely a dangerous situation. Younger children seem especially at risk. Oakland, please include these two streets in any repaving and/or improvements. Thank you.

  This is a very steep section of street and is used as a cut through from Trestle Glen to Park Bl. hence lots of traffic and unsafe speeds. The combination of bad, gravelly road surface, steepness of grade and high speed are a super dangerous combination. It is not a matter of if an accident will happen but when.
