  The Traffic Department is performing a comprehensive study of the Sea Street corridor from Quincy Shore Drive to Palmer Street to look at traffic improvements. Short term, I will ask the Traffic Engineer if they refresh the stripes / paint arrows as necessary to address the middle lane / left turn issue.

  I want to lend support to this issue. This happens all the time and must occasionally cause accidents. Can we get an update from the city here??

  I agree... the issue took way to long to be acknowledged and way too long to get q response. why use technology if the administrator is only able to go pen and paper speed?

  I agree. That center lane always has a car driving fast then, whammo, slams on brakes to take a left. Is the middle lane straight only or not?

  Good morning, all:
  As I had previously stated there is a study ongoing with regard to implementing traffic measures along the Sea Street corridor. I am awaiting a progress update as a result of a recent meeting. The city's traffic engineer advised that the jurisdiction of the intersection belongs to DCR and that any recommended improvements or changes will require their approval.
  There is a process in the works and I understand the frustration with respect to sharing of information or making visible changes. I will post new information once it is made available to me.

  Preliminary results based on traffic counts indicate that the volumes may warrant two dedicated left-turn lanes. Additionally, the right turn lane from Sea Street to Quincy Shore Drive may be widened and the signals at the intersection require upgrading and coordination with DCR. This study remains in progress as it spans more of Sea Street than that intersection. A neighborhood advisory committee was formed for this project as well to offer input. Public meetings will be held before changes are implemented.

  A meeting was held this week regarding plans for Sea Street traffic improvements. Design plans are nearly complete and will require some review from the DCR with respect to the intersection of Quincy Shore Drive and Sea Street as it is under their jurisdiction. Upon their review, comment and approval additional information will be available as well as detail for the stretch of Sea Street from Quincy Shore Drive to Palmer Street.

  I am not familiar with the specifics of that intersection. In general, from what I understand of traffic rules, the middle lane can make a left turn only if the left lane must turn left, the intersecting street has two lanes, the left turn is protected and the middle lane has no arrow prohibiting left turn. The left lane driver is responsible for staying to the left while turning.

  3+ years later and we still have no clear consensus on this. I wonder if it could be anything to do with the nepotism, and much of the 'same old same old' from an Quincy administration that does not seem to care about its constituents.
