Description
Someone has put signs on the side of this building stating that the sidewalk is a parking zone. Consequently, people are always parking on the sidewalk! I reported this before, and it’s been noted resolved, but nothing is changed.

How does the city approve standing motor vehicles standing or driving on sidewalks? Florida Statutes explicitly prohibit this. At section 316.1945(1)(a)2, Florida Statutes say no one may stop or stand a motor vehicle on a sidewalk. At section 316.1955(1), Florida Statutes say no one may drive a motor vehicle on a sidewalk.
Please provide me with any and all public records related to this approval. If this forum is not convenient for sharing documents, you may provide electronic files to me at wthomashawkins@gmail.com or contact me by telephone at 352-377-3141 to make other arrangements.

How do the ordinances for Sec. 30-5.40. - Outdoor cafes and Sec. 30-5.44. - Sidewalk cafés apply here then? They must not meet the requirements since this the sidewalk is also used for temporary parking.
Also, why can't two or three of the parking spots directly across the street be designated as loading/unloading spots instead? Especially since there is a parking garage right there.

Thank you again for bringing this signage matter to Public Works attention. As stated, your comments on the Florida Statue is correct in your interpretation. However, this area was designed and approved by the City several years ago as a drop-off/pick-up spot for the townhomes in the adjacent building; as such, vehicles are allowed to park legally for a short duration. There is nothing that declares that this is a sidewalk vs. a pull off area. To that point, it was designed with no curbing so that a vehicle can clearly pull in that area to make deliveries. Also, it clearly displays the proper signage and has been designated as a drop off area as the Building Plans from years ago dictate and is in compliance with said plans.
The proper forum for your Public Records request lies is within the Department of Doing by which management Andrew Persons (Interim Director) has been duly noted. Consequently, you will be hearing from his office staff regarding requested documents. If you desire, you may contact the Department of doing at 352-334-5023 for further questions and this request is now closed.
