Description
The poorly lit crosswalk across Washtenaw near Thayer Street where the student was just hit by a car will continue to be a problem until there is better lighting/visibility of the people entering the crosswalk at night. I feel badly in not emailing earlier as my wife and I have both felt this to be a problem. Though there are streetlights nearby, it is difficult to see people entering the crosswalk at night, especially entering from the north side. It is extraordinarily difficult when one is facing the glare of 2 lanes of oncoming traffic, exacerbated by any reflected glare of wet streets! My suggestion is to put an overhead light the length of the crosswalk identical to the one over the crosswalk on Geddes entering Gallup Park. It will make pedestrians clearly visible, draw attention to the crosswalk itself, and perhaps be less expensive (?) and less disruptive to a busy thoroughfare like Washtenaw while improving pedestrian safety. Thank you for your time.

PLEASE repair the streetlight at this very dangerous crosswalk.
