Restoration has been delayed due to the high water table this summer and because of the cave-in on the north side of the storm water basin. The City is in the process of working with a contractor to repair the cave-in. This is a large repair as the pipe is 15' below the surface (larger than regular city equipment can handle). If the repairs are completed this fall, the landscaping will be completed in the spring, 2019. Due to work within the basin, trees needed to be removed. The fencing and vegetation around the basin are kept within city standards. If you have further questions or concerns please contact the Department of Transportation & Utilities at 269-329-4422.

Is there a way to petition the city to reconsider the decision to install privacy fencing along Winters Drive? I believe this repair has had a negative impact on the value of my home due to increased noise levels from the airport and Airway Lanes due to the removal of trees. The new retention pond has also resulted in the elimination of a visual barrier. This is a major inconvenience.

I bet this repair would have been automatic if we were talking about the same situation in Woodbridge Hills...

Geoff - The City is working on a contract for the repairs to start this fall. As long as the repair can be finalized this fall, the landscaping, which includes the replacement of trees, will take place next spring.
