Reposting this issue, since nothing has been done since earlier post weeks ago. Given all the crosswalk, scooter and bike lane activism on both side of the issues in this town, this is clearly a political display. If those who have put this display up feel strongly about it, let them put it on their own private property.

It’s not a political sign. It’s an important public memorial in public property. The city is right not to remove it.

To the person who posted this: If it's on your property easement and you don't want to look at it everyday, I think you should take it down. I get it. And I wouldn't be hanging around waiting for action that may or may not occur through See Click "Fix" You know what you want done.

The city is aware of the ghost bike issue and the Attorney's Office is working on a decision with regard to the length of time memorials are to be allowed.

Also for the record, a memorial is something like a bouquet of flowers or a stone marker. By incorporating a bicycle into the display it becomes a political sign.

The issue of a memorial bike on display has been presented to the City's Attorney's Office for a decision on the length of time permitted as it is not currently a code violation.
