To quote Roger Waters, “Hello is anybody out there?” I would think after a bit over a week someone would at least acknowledge the receiving of this issue report. Thanks.
This has been reported to NYSEG. They maintain the street lights as part of our franchise agreement with them. We will keep an eye on this light and see what the turnaround is for repairs.
Despite my Tweet to NYSEG, with the issue and specific directions to the location, no further conversation. I did receive an email from ClickFix reporting blight on the sidewalk by NAPPA. I attempted to report a potential security/safety concern and the priority of this host site is to notify me of weeds growing out of cracks in the sidewalks. Not sure I have faith in the respective systems in place.
Thanks for staying on this Jules. I’m sorry to hear that and that you don’t feel you are getting the results you hoped for using this tool. And I agreee properly working street lights is of more urgency than weed control. But they both are relevant and fair game for the tool.
I also monitor all issues posted on SCF. I don’t dismiss any of the things people find important to share. Some we can handle quickly, others take more time and others we cannot handle or are not within our purview.
I should mention, the way SCF works, people take a picture on location and the program automatically geolocates it, so the post you refer to was not calling out a specific location by a business but questioning the village’s status of weed control and the picture was just an example that tagged a location automatically - and weed control is a fair question, and one within our control to address.
When people post issues related to street lights (NYSEG), or potholes on the state routes through town (DOT), or things like that, we can’t handle it directly. We can only alert those agencies and don’t have particular clout. So these issues take longer to address.
In general, SeeClickFix is useful in my opinion because it is more convenient for people to note and submit an issue when and where they observe it, rather than remember it until business hours and then call the Village Clerk’s office. It lowers the barriers and improves communications.
I hope you keep at it - we need people who care about Perry’s condition and public safety, out there keeping an eye on things!
Rick
Thanks Rick, I sincerely appreciate your response. I don’t want to be “that person” , I will try to reboot my attitude and be hopeful.
I will wait and see.
NYSEG was able to repair this street light in their last sweep of the Village. Our apologies for the delay as we cannot take direct action on these lights.
