Harold Street in Oakland has became difficult to drive without risking yourself and damaging your car. It's time to close those pothols or renew the road

OAK 311 has received this issue. Your service request ID is #833062. Thank you, in advance, for your patience as we work through a backlog of pothole service requests. Unfortunately the City does not have enough funding to repave all streets in poor condition. With limited funding, our response to resurfacing requests is limited to minor pavement and pothole repairs only. Our Street Maintenance Department will assess your street and determine whether temporary measures might be appropriate. Please understand that this work may be limited to pothole or other minor repairs, and that we have many similar requests. We will do our best to respond in a timely manner. The backlog of streets in Oakland needing pavement currently is $435 million and growing.

The left side of harold st was repaved in late 2014 or early 2015 and there was an assumption that the right side would soon follow as it was and is as bad as the left side was. Since the left side repaving we have periodically had some holes filled which never lasts as the whole length of street between Champion and Coolidge is compromised. A repaving is the only solution. It is a freeway frontage road and gets high traffic volume as well as heavy trucks exiting at Fruitvale and reentering at Coolidge.

This issue has been reported for years and has gone unremediated. The city of Oakland has repaved many streets in the last couple years that were not in immediate need of repaving as Harold St has been for many years, so please don't patronize us with budget whining.

I agree with Paul - why did Fruitvale need repaving? It was just repaved a few years ago. Meanwhile, Harold St. is all but impassable! Haven't we been paid .12 more per gallon of gas since January to fund road repair? Why isn't Oakland getting those funds and using them wisely?
