Since first reporting this issue I have spoken to another resident who says that the trailer parked in the woods just off of Payne road was possibly owned by a person he knew to be in the asbestos remediation business. He went on to express his beliefs that the reason the trailer had been abandoned there was due to it potentially being either contaminated with asbestos, or full of it. I was also told that the owner of the vehicle and possibly the property has long since died. Perhaps a review as to who owns the trailer and the property and knowingly abandon what was at the time, a 30-50 thousand dollar asset. Has the property been sold in the last 15-20 years? does the new owner know what's in the truck?? Please don't tell me the town cannot take action.

Good morning,
I have spoken with the property owner who has owned the property since 1986 and learned the following:
The trailer in question was used as a construction site office for a company that specialized in acoustic ceiling tile installation. The company never engaged in asbestos remediation of any form. The property is currently for sale and the trailer will be removed at the time of sale.
As mentioned before, this property owner is not in violation of any of the Town of Scarborough's ordinances. For this reason the Town will not be taking action.

There was a time when a large per cent age of ceiling tiles manufactured and installed that contained asbestos. Most installers of ceiling tiles also remove ceiling tiles as part and parcel of their contracts to install new ceilings.
If the owner of the property is going to remove the trailer after what? Living with it sitting there since 1986 (32 years), and he’s happy, and your happy, all’s right with the world, and i’m Happy too.
Have to say, i’ve Never lived anywhere else (8 states) that leaving unlicensed vehicles in perpetual storage would be allowed. Might be appropriate to have an ordinance passed saying unlicensed/registered vehicles can only be stored for 6 months before they must be registered or removed. Couple of places along Holmes Road and elsewhere would be affected.
