Descripción

U-M is now proposing to build a transit center on Dean Road. With the anticipated increase in motorized transit, we should re-evaluate use of Dean and Baxter Roads by pedestrians and cyclists.

There is no sidewalk on either side of Dean Road or on Baxter between Dean and Green. I see pedestrians today walking down both roads; in the winter this is esp. difficult for them as they either must walk in the roadway itself or through the acccumulated snow. Regardless of what U-M ends up building here, pedestrians today need a sidewalk at least on one side of the road that is maintained in the winter

Dean and Baxter are the safest route today for cyclists going from south/central/north campus and the U-M buildings on the other side of 23 from Plymouth. Can you kindly evaluate the infrastructure needs for cyclists under anticipated traffic loads under U-M's plans so that you can plan now and avoid compromising cyclist safety in the future once U-M commences its building?

Many thanks
