That is a National Grid conduit manhole, not much the City can do about that one.

Hi Rose, I think Ken's suggestion was that perhaps the DPW could remove/move the mound of asphalt adjacent to the manhole cover that causes the water to pool atop the manhole cover during rainy conditions. The mound of asphalt serves as a ramp from the sidewalk providing wheelchair access across Pleasant, but it appears there could be enough space in the walkway to move it away from the manhole cover to enable smoother drainage in that section of Pleasant.

Just wanted to say…thanks Rose…also, Manholes serve important if not critical purpose for infrastructure. You just can’t ask officials to just “eliminate” them!

Unfortunately, Removing the asphalt as suggested will not remedy the issue. It is much greater than that. There is also a groundwater issue. It is aging infrastructure that Grid is actually in the process of addressing.
