Description
Congratulations on the upcoming change to LED street lights. It is a step forward in energy savings. However, please install LED lights that have a color temperature of 2700K - 3000K which is in the incandescent bulb range. "Daylight" LEDs have too much blue and may cause sleeping problems in neighborhoods due to an interruption of the circadian rhythms. In New York they have installed daylight LED bulbs in streetlights, that cast a bluish hue into bedrooms at night causing this sleep problem. Let's head off the problem at the start and simply install the proper LEDs to begin with.

Interesting. In 2013, it was estimated to save the city $1.8 million in energy costs.

As of several days ago, that savings number is down to $240k.

A pretty good example of why no competition of a service in an area is a bad thing.

Also Mike, according to this article, the LED's emit a 3000K color temperature.

As far as the cost savings... I understand they had to give up a lot of that to get Duke to do the installation at all. I think the PSC ought to look into that.
The plus side is the reduced environmental impact of generating less.
