Yes, it's terrible but it has been an issue for a long time. Really wish something could be done about it.

It’s coming from the company on the corner of slaughter where they clean sheets and other lines from hospitals and homes in the area. I’ve been noticing the smell for years and hit the recirculate button on the AC in the car before I get to that area.

Just for more information I smelled it Friday at 1730 heading east on Madison Blvd and then again at 2100 heading west on Madison Blvd. Last night I smelled it heading east on Madison Blvd at 1900, and I didn't smell it again heading west at 2000. I don't remember ever smelling the sewer in the day the time, but like other people have commented I have smelled it on and off for years.

I was heading west on Madison Blvd today, 11/3/17, at 2048, and it still smelled like sewer. It wasn't as strong.

I smelled it 11/23 around 1800 heading west. It was super strong. I didn't smell it that morning.

Any update on this? It's been reopened since since November.

Thank you for contacting the city of Huntsville's Water Pollution Control Department. We have a lift station in that area and that is the source for the odor. Unfortunately it is a problem that has been ongoing for many years. According to a supervisor, we do have regular odor control methods in place and will continue to install more.
