there hundreds of birds living in the trees on Essex Street. they are defecating all over the sidewalk and Street. not only is this a nuisance, as they have rendered multiple spaces on the street unusable for parking, it is a serious health issue. we have children in the neighborhood who play on these sidewalks. this needs to be investigated.

The birds have nested there for years. The Migratory Bird Treat Act of 1918 makes it illegal for Animal Control to move them, or their nests, without a federal permit issued by the Division of Fish & Wildlife according to the US Department of the Interior.
To quote: “The Migratory Bird Treaty Act makes it illegal for anyone to take, possess, import, export, transport, sell, purchase, barter, or offer for sale, purchase, or barter, any migratory bird, or the parts, nests, or eggs of such a bird except under the terms of a valid permit issued pursuant to Federal regulations.”
