Traffic and Transportation, the neighborhood is getting lots of notifications about this location. It seems that cars are going to park there. Since it seems like different violators, even if you could have constant patrols, I doubt any amount of patrolling and ticketing will change that. I'm not a doctor, but the amount of stress the ongoing issue is causing this woman by parking illegally in front of her house (9 posts in a the past week plus calls to the police) can't be healthy. Can we solve the issue and help her by moving the bus stop slightly and thus make it legal for cars to park in those spots? Parking in bus stops doesn't seem to be a problem on the rest of Alden, so that may just be a bad location for a bus stop.

Yes it is on going and the police show up and did not ticket the 4 day car in violation???????..

I worked from home at this address for the past four years. I had a lot of time to think about these cars, which is an ongoing issue. I never enjoyed looking out my window and seeing people illegally parked there. If anyone was going to get to park there, it should have been me so I didn't have to carry my toddler and shopping across the street! And on the rare occasion something punitive happened I felt some satisfaction at seeing a ticket issued.
So while I sympathize with Sylvia's (and others' frustrations), I also agree with the OP that tickets aren’t going to change the behavior because it was always different cars.
If it’s not changing behavior, we’re left with revenue generation and punishment as a motivation to issue tickets. Frankly, if I were running Parking, I probably wouldn’t have my limited officers regularly patrol the area either—they’re better used and more effective in other parts of the city. Regularly dispatching an officer to Westville won’t compete with expired meters downtown or patrolling zoned parking neighborhoods.
So, after four years of frequently looking at illegally parked cars out my window, I never came up with a solution that did anything more positive than just give me schadenfreude. While that location probably is the best place for a bus stop, per above comment, I appreciate the OP trying to get creative on how to solve the issue because I don't believe more ticketing will change anything. Does anyone else see a non-ticketing option?
