The bus stop should not be moved, the cars should be ticketed.

This bus stop is in an intersection with a cross street so parking would not be legal there any way. A good place for a bus stop where it doesn't take away parking.

I worked from home at this address for the past four years. I had a lot of time to think about these cars, which is an ongoing issue. I never enjoyed looking out my window and seeing people illegally parked there. If anyone was going to get to park there, it should have been me so I didn't have to carry my toddler and shopping across the street! And on the rare occasion something punitive happened I felt some satisfaction at seeing a ticket issued.

So while I sympathize with Sylvia's (and others' frustrations), I also agree with the OP that tickets aren’t going to change the behavior because it was always different cars.

If it’s not changing behavior, we’re left with revenue generation and punishment as a motivation to issue tickets. Frankly, if I were running Parking, I probably wouldn’t have my limited officers regularly patrol the area either—they’re better used and more effective in other parts of the city. Regularly dispatching an officer to Westville won’t compete with expired meters downtown or patrolling zoned parking neighborhoods.

So, after four years of frequently looking at illegally parked cars out my window, I never came up with a solution that did anything more positive than just give me schadenfreude. While that location probably is the best place for a bus stop, per above comment, I appreciate the OP trying to get creative on how to solve the issue because I don't believe more ticketing will change anything. Does anyone else see a non-ticketing option?

If revenus is the answer they need the meeter cop in all area of New Haven it will more than pay for their time; i have property on State St 2 hour limit; because it's free every one from the court house parks there sucking up parking for residence and business owners. I have confonted thoes lawyers and said i will have the PA in force the 2 hour limit . I did and it stoped the abuse when tickets were given. When someone gets a ticket wheather they live here or they make it known to the resident they may b visiting so it will in time work if only the parking authority does ther job... I will keep complaining ...
