Police don't care, just like they fail to move double parked cars, cars parked next to fire hydrants and cars parked on sidewalks.

The new ordinance only limits the ability to park on the sidewalk. I do agree in part with the anonymous user who posted the issue. There are alot of teenagers riding scooters with no security gear which is the law. We have to keep in mind that there are 3 categories of scooters. Although they look the same, they are not. The 50cc are more like a motorized bicycle and are restricted by the manufacturer to not go over 30mph. Those scooters that are "speeding" mean that either they are not a 50cc or are illegally modified, police should take notice.

are we afraid or intimidated to enforce the law?? What happened to the US?

I do not want to believe Police don't care but by seeing all these things go by(double parked cars, illegal scooter drivers, driving without a license) makes me believe they don't give a damn(I still don't want to believe) not quite sure what the hesitation is to enforce the law, too much work? I happened to be in Somerville last week and saw a car crossing over the lane without indicating AND the police behind him pulled him over and TICKETED him. Here in Chelsea..free for all. How can we trust????? I am sure there is a valid reason why they don't enforce it. It will be posted here soon by city officials

It's amazing how people want to believe Chelsea police officers can be at every location at any given possible moment when the laws are broken. This is very unrealistic. I've had issues with scooter operators in the past and let me tell you that the police officers have stopped those individuals when they break a law. I'm grateful in those situations but I'm not going to lay blame on them when another individual on a scooter breaks the law and they don't happen to be around.

Megatron: please re-read all the comments. No one is saying that they want to police to cover the entire city at all times. People are simply asking to have Police enforce all laws when violations are occurring while they are out on patrol, that includes double parking, speeding, etc.
I for one have seen on multiple occasions where the police on site simply does nothing.

The Police have been notified of this issue. However, I strongly suggest calling the Police directly when you observe one of these traffic violations. This site is efficient for non emergency, non-imminent situations. But, it is typically not effective for reporting short-term traffic or parking violations because it is only reviewed once or twice per day.
