Thank you, IG, for keeping up on this. It's disgusting how the City can let this Public Health hazard remain, near residences and along sidewalks that residents need to walk on. The residents can no longer enjoy normal comfort of walking on the sidewalks. You have to walk out in the traffic to get around the blockages/ environmental disasters they have created on sidewalks. Please, somebody do something about this.

This public health hazard also impacts our environment. Contaminated feces,urine, syringes, excess trash and litter going into the streams the feed Lake Merritt and the bay. With 6000 + of these people camped on our streets, sidewalks and parks this is one very nasty mess.

And yet the city sits by and does nothing...

I was just there tonight (Mar 11th and nothing is changed) : it is definitely not closed. Also, I got an email the other day from SCF that the mini-village under the f'way at Grove-Shafter along MLK sidewalks was "Closed".....unbelievable. It's going as strong as ever. Someone at SCF has their wires crossed. NOTHING has been done on any of these encampments.

C.I., no wires are crossed at the City of Oakland...they close issues to meet their Service Standards. You have to reopen issues that have not been addressed rather than reporting them again. It's so unethical yet it's allowed to go on. Stay vocal, follow up with action.

What else can be done? This just goes on and on. I'm beyond frustrated!

The real problem is our City leaders are condoning this behavior at the taxpayers expense.

Dear City of Oakland: we are going to continue to submit SCF requests, because this encampment has brought a lot of problems to the residents in the area and you need to do more than just click a button when we lodge these requests. You erroneously Closed this about a week ago, after absolutely nothing had been done to abate the issues reported. Nothing. Still nothing has been done and it's nearly July. People's cars are being vandalized, their trash cans rifled through with messes and garbage left all over for them to clean up --- every ding dong day, feces on people's front entry stairs, windows broken, attempted break-ins, tenants can't get a new roommate, property managers can't rent apts ---- shall we sue the City of Oakland for the tens of thousands accumulated dollars of losses by residents for your not doing your job? Please do your job and make the sidewalk and street safe along 29th Street between MLK and Telegraph. Get these SCF's to highest Supervisor you can. Thank you.
