don't want mosquitos to be an issue in these ditches so they should be cleared out.....thanks

The Fairlawn Park drainage ditches are on a regular maintenance cycle. They are mowed near the beginning of each month.

Suggest following up on contractor's work. It did not appear as if this area had been attended to in quite some time.

had the occasion to pass by the aforementioned ditches and agree that they need some maintenance some 2 weeks after original issue request. the north end is in need partial mowing and the south side looks like it has had no maintenance in quite awhile. mosquitos could become a problem if there is standing water among this long grass, Has anyone with the city been out to observe both sides of 79th ave at these ditches between 67 and 68 sts? I think it would be appropriate.

finally today I happened to notice that the ditches on either side of 79th ave were finally mowed or whatever and it certainly looks much better and will cut down on any standing water and mosquito issues and believe it was only done due to neighborhood comments made about it because it had been a long time since last attention. I noticed that the Fairlawn ditch on either side of 79th was mowed and clean last night during my walk. It looks good. They even removed the debris that was starting to build up at the entrance to the culverts. Thank you very much for your help. For City Engineering it may only be another part of the massive drainage system that Pinellas Park is tasked with maintaining but for the residents of Fairlawn it is one of the only things that keeps our area from flooding. Very few employees in the City's Engineering Department are still on the payroll that were here during the flood of May 8, 1979. Drastic improvements have been made since that date and we'd like to make sure that they are maintained properly and where needed improved upon so as what happened that day never happens again.
