This alley has not been determined to be private or city. Some wanted it to be private so they can fence in the alley. Than is impossible because the alley has been used for public use for apporximately 40 years.

The residents of the 700 block of 70th avenue north are still waiting for response as to specific date(s) of service road resurfacing. We received notices informing us of a start date of Feb 01, 2016, and it is already May. One block over (the 600 block) was done months ago , and we have been repeatedly overlooked. Pinellas County Property Appraiser shows that all homes on those blocks are of the same size. Google maps shows the road as 70th Ave N (not labelled as 'alley') Why is the 700-800 section of 70th Avenue North considered 'private' , while the 600 block is maintained by the city ? We have a petition signed by a majority of the residents requesting equal service.

The issue that you reported has been inspected by the Community Services Dept. and it was determined that this is a private road, and therefore, not resurfaced by the city.

This alley has been used as a public access for approximately 40 years - so how can it be a private road way? There are utility poles and a ditch to maintain. How can one end of an alley behind the residents all on the same street be private and not the other end. I live on the other end and my property line goes almost across the whole alley but that makes mine not private.

Does Sanitation use this alley?

Sanitation truck does back into 70th Ave N (aka 'alley') at 8th St when servicing the Parkview Condo dumpster. In addition, multiple utility and public service vehicles routinely drive on roadway while on their way to other job sites, as well as the general public, when searching for the entrance to Fossil Park. This has not disturbed the majority of residents in the past. However, attention was brought to the area recently when only one specific section of 70th Ave N was resurfaced. As you can see by the attached Google map, the road is identified as 70th Ave N, which adds to the confusion. Residents of the section between 7th & 8th Sts would be very happy to have a simple resurfacing, equal to what was done on the section east of 7th St, and have signed a petition stating such. It is our goal to avoid further degradation of the strategic roadway prior to hurricane season and the planned upgrades to Fossil Park. Thank you for your consideration.
