You can thank the mayor. They were removed from 23rd and moved there. Until the mayor gets it together and comes up with a solution this is how Oakland will continue to look. Plus the homeless need to want to be helped, which many don't.

Also there is a lot of advocates out there. Most the so called homeless we deal with are not suitable for housing due to drug and alcohol addiction, pets or they are self prescribing mentally ill and do not what help. We have called the EMT's on several occasions only to have the person stagger off and refuse help. These people have a lot of personal freedoms and they know how to work the system. They need to be moved somewhere out the parks, playgrounds and off the streets.

I doubt that anything was done, so will wait for a reliable source to confirm.

The situation has not been remedied. PW just closes the ticket because they referred it to other departments. Public.still has to deal with it.

PW, do your job and clean this encampment up. So irritating.

Obviously effirts were made to move these folks out. It must have been cleared out on Friday, but by 6:15 pm there was one tent back thete, by 10:30 pm last night there were 3. Also one on Grand next to St. VdeP society and billboard, and three at Brush and 23rd Street. What can be done to provide a long term solution? Obviously the City does not have the human resource to clear aout encampments and monitor the location 24/7.

They can make a camp like Seattle is doing. Obviously Oakland is unwilling to try anything. Seattle provides the lot and waste pickup. They govern themselves and clean up the areas around. Oakland wants to play the pitiful poor them game, which is so old already.

I don't feel so certain that the city doesn't have the resources to deal with this. If these tents were parked on the sidewalk where the Uber HQ is going to be, I guarantee they would find a better solution

I don't think Libby has The guts to do to anything because the advocates would raise a stink, but than if advocates care so much, than why are they letting them live in basically a garbage dump, no sanitary facilities, nothing. Seattle $120,000 a year I think it is on a city lot and waste management, Oakland must be paying allot more just cleaning them up ever so often.

And with each go around a lot more taxpayer money go's down the rat hole. Some one is making lots money off the so called homeless and its not the taxpayers or the homeless. I smell a rat or two!!!

This can not and should not go on the way it is. There is another huge encampment on th Emeryville board, near Home Depot. I feel these encampment are a symptom of really bad governing. If this is sanctioned by the Mayors office, which it was all winter in the rainy reason then there should be dumpsters, police patrol and Porto potties.

If these people want live here and want all the hand outs find a very large lot to let them camp in water, toilets, dumpsters and if they want a hand out give them community service to help pay for it and all the havoc they have caused already. Please get them off the streets, sidewalks and parks. Pay them bounties to turn in the spray vandals and illegal dumpers.

You quitely subtly promote the city and its actions. AS IF THEY ARE CORRECT IN IGNORING HOMELESS GARBAGE AND CRIES OF HELP FROM EVERY SINGLE PERSON ON ONE END OF TOWN TO ANOTHER.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
