There's a huge puddle covering half of eighth street right after Harrison. Must be coming from underground because it's got no obvious opening, showing. Needless to say, this has exacerbated the rat problem to the point where my trailer on the opposite side of eighth Harrison, just got bombarded by rats. Literally.
One more bonus point for the rats to add to the weekly pile of trash that accumulates on the sidewalk. This is due to the city refusing to allow the homeless to pay for.. dumpsrers.
Please note that this is a problem I've seen occur at this site in past years. Without the homeless present. So this break did not occur because of the homeless.
  • 8th St & Harrison St Berkeley, CA, 94710, USA - Berkeley
This rv person has put up his own private shower porta potty. This was done under the direction and supervision of a man who does homeless outreach for the City of Albany. This is not located in Albany. This is Berkeley.
He aided the man in bringing containers of water here and showed him how to set it up. However they did not set up any system for the dirty water to be collected. Instead they chose to allow it to drain directly onto the street, where it puddles up underneath the next trailer directly after it. The man from Albany also parked his van behind this porta potty, running over the just cleaned up pile of leaves and trash, that had not yet been bagged up for removal. Thereby causing all of it to be caught up in the cesspool of dirty water.
I live in the trailer behind this mess. With my child. I kill myself on a regular basis to keep this area as clean as possible. I clean the streets and sidewalks surrounding us as well as the other streets in that vicinity. Myself, one neighbor on Harrison, around the corner, and the woman who lives in her small rv further behind me and is the owner of my trailer; all do everything we can to keep this whole area as clean as possible. It is a never ending battle. Which makes the actions of these two grown men, completely unacceptable.
The man who lives in this trailer never cleans up a thing, dumps liquids directly out his trailer door, throws glass bottles on the ground and at other people and is in general a lazy fob. The idiocy of this issue is that there is a bathroom INSIDE HIS TRAILER. He simply doesn't know how to use it and does not care to learn how.
The wrongness of this issue is, the man who is on the City of Albany homeless commission. He somehow took it upon himself to take over directing this man's life. He got this portable shower in some unknown way and took it upon himself to plant it DIRECTLY IN THE CITY STREET NEXT TO THE CURB.
When I stopped cleaning up the pile of leaves behind my trailer and looked at the gutter I found a river of water puddling underneath my trailer. The cause of the puddling is two fold. One is the cracking sidewalk that is uprooting from a tree that has a rats nest underneath it. The sidewalk is raising up from the rats and this causes the gutter and street to also uplift. This impedes the flow of water to the nearest drain way on the other end of the block. It only impedes it slightly. However there is a rv behind it(third in line from corner of harrison, on eighth). That rv owner, adamantly refuses to pull her tires off the edge of the curb even though she knows it is stopping the flow of street water. Even though she see how it puddles up DIRECTLY UNDERNEATH THE TRAILER MY CHILD AND I HAVE TO LIVE IN. she sees how hard I work everyday to sweep up and remove the tons of leaves from that massive tree. Her, the man in the first trailer and the man who works for Albany have all sat and watched me dredge buckets of street trash, leaves and sewage and take it all away for proper removal; many many times over. Recently the woman from that rv, even rudely came out of her rv one afternoon and swept the huge pile 9f leaves I had just cleaned up BACK OUT INTO THE STREET AND IMMEDIATE PARKING SPACE. a space which a considerate TESLA employee had just moved his car from so I could finish cleaning the area. He moved it with the area almost finished and returned to find it a complete mess again.
These employees have explained to us in the past, how they get in trouble if their shoes leave any street mess in customers cars. This is another good reason I clean up like I do. Our unfortunate living circumstances should not cause them any further troubles in their work. I have to much respect for those who endure the chaos of the homeless situation. If I can lighten that stress even slightly, I will.
Yet people like her and the other men purposely shove it all back in their faces. She did that with several TESLA employees watching in shock and disgust. The sick part of that is my cleaning up, is only a positive benefit to her and her rv. Saves her from risking mosquito bites and being overrun by rats. But she nor that other man care.
They choose to exacerbate the problem further.
When I saw this new waste water, destroying the cleanup effort I was doing, I directly called the two men out on it and insisted they stop immediately and clean the mess up. Not only did they refuse to do so, but the Albany man threatened to record my angered demand on his cellphone. I gave him permission as long as he dutifully recorded the mess he created. He chose to continue engaging in the city of Albany city council meeting he was on zoom with, in order to push the council to give him more funding for being such a great support to all of Albany unfortunate homeless.
Sigh... This was three nights ago. I took my child and left to stay at a hotel room. This filth is killing me. It's destroying the scarce stability that the trailer we are in has. It's developed mold and rats despite everything I do to stave it off. I spend way to much time and energy fighting stuff like this in order to keep our daily environment safe. Time that I need to spend on finding us a home and truly spend with my child. I am disabled as it is. This difficult level of sustaning healthiness is not helping me stabilize any of these disabilities. Another words my back is already beyond broken. This breaks it so much more.
Neither man, cared at all when I said it was not sanitary, especially for a child, and that it was a health hazard. When the woman in the rv behind me, came out to stare and smirk; I gave up, took my child and left.
Since then the man has evidently repeated his showering routine every night. Because the mess remains. Even if he skips a night or two, any water, puddled underneath my trailer, takes days to dissipate. Unless I shovel it out by hand.
So, this is a public request for a health, safety and environmental hazards violation, that I am submitting. It is not on private property nor sidewalk. It is public right of way and public infrastructure system. It is a request that entails vector control due to the puddling dirty water that sits for days. This creates vectors of mosquitoes, rats, and multiple other vermin, such as the opossum that was waiting to sneak underneath my trailer tonight.
Since this street has a drainage system and a city sewer line, it is also a dumping of hazardous waste into public streets and into the Bay, issue.
Most importantly, since this is where a child is habitating, even temporarily, this is a child endangerment issue. Not one on my part, if anybody is thinking they can go there.
We are at a hotel still, but will have to return. Today when we entered our trailer we smelled mold for the first time.
    Every other street is dry.
Except for where my trailer is parked, where his is parked and where hers is parked.

I saw a man eating food earlier at this location. Didnt think anything of it until I went to the gas station twenty minutes ago and walked by thr stuff left on the sidewalk.
I definitely was not prepared to see what he had left lying on the ground with his food.
A dead squirrel all splayed out with scatter hot sauce packages and trash.
Needless to say, this is a little bit more than a typical trash report. Its located next to the hydroponics store on 7th street off of university.

Anna Corona, employee, for K&S company, a property management company, ignored the decision made by this units onsite management, to rent to me.
She, the advertisement and the gentleman, Brian all stated he was the final deciding factor. His word was it.
    He emphatically said yes.
Anna emphatically said no after she heard I have a shelter plus care housing voucher.
She flop flopped for about a month despite brian insisting repeatedly that she sign the lease with me.
Aside from her continual denial of my voucher she also insisted I get a cosigner because I am on disability and tried to fraudulently charge me $500 for a deposit to take the unit off the market, after I had been accepted and it was already off market
All of this is clear violations of berkeley city laws and some state aspects of civil rights laws

I will make an agreement with Berkeley. Enforce this law and back up what you say; and house us correctly and fairly, and I will no longer be forced to live in a tent with my child. Since I am sure this has all of city management and staff, lying awake in tears every night, I believe this will be beneficial to all parties. Except Anna.

I spent hours everyday last week cleaning up the trash under and around the freeway. I sorted the paper and plastic and needles and batteries and clothes, from the trash. It totaled 1 bag of paper recycling, 1 bag of plastics, 2 bags of clothes, 2 bags of trash and a shoebox of needles and batteries. Mainly batteries. Only one container of human waste. There was one bag from caltrans which they removed. Thank you Caltrans. I put it all alongside the fence for it to be seeable and removable.
It is all still there. The rats ripped up some of the bags spreading the trash along the sidewalk again.
I am cleaning the freeway onramps and offramps this week. I don't have any bags from caltrans or berkeley. Hopefully they will still be picked up.
  • 598 University Ave Berkeley, CA 94710, USA - Berkeley
This homeless encampment is out of everyone's view and is underneath the university ave overpass going to the Marina. The majority of the camps tenants, are stretched out alongside a fence. Behind that fence is a large number of unused Ecology Center bins and dumpsters. All sitting unused and obviously, very, needed.
Berkeley is following in the polluted footsteps of Oakland. Garbage is garbage. Regardless of who dumps its or creates it. It causes diseases and pests if left out. This homeless encampment is overran with rats. I stay at the Berkeley Marina in an rv with my child. We are also overrun with rats. Large unstoppable rats that way through metal and wood alike. It has become a 24 hour, losing battle for me. My rv is deteriorating quickly from the rats destructive behavior.
As for the homeless encampments tenants, they say the rats are so bold a to run right over their feet. They have to replace tents almost as quickly as they buy them. Yes they do buy them.
As for the piles of garbage; supposedly Caltrans is supposed to remove it every thursday, so the campers pack everything up and move their belongings to the long alley Wednesday night's.
Caltrans shows up or doesn't. Rarely do they take the trash. Sometimes they go through the belongings of the homeless. Sometimes items are taken.
The trash is often left to pile 5 feet deep and 15 feet across. Or worse.
This is and has been all to common of an action. The general behavior of others, is to let the homeless sit in their own excrement and stew. As if homeless people chose to be homeless, and like, making their environments turn into garbage dumps.
Since the homeless, dont work for the garbage services or caltrans or city office, it can't be them choosing to allow this disaster. it's obviously the decision of those in charge. That includes the voting, housed, taxpaying, public. If you don't want to experience, a modern day black plague, start caring more about the homeless, and the trash. Believe me, everything affects everything else.

Major hazard in roadway that has not been acknowledged by any human being since I first reported it.
cemented in hazard danger by its direct link to a violent attack on my family and home this morning. since this attack and illegal dumping/ hazard was done within the scope of city authority, this further neglect is leading to the City of Oakland being directly responsible for the attack.
It is implying that the city officials want to get rid of a problem without truly doing their jobs.
HOUSING HOMELESS FAMILIES CORRECTLY INSTEAD OF HARMING THEM.
Dear Oakland, I used to have a home here. I paid my bills and was a GREAT citizen. But then bad stuff happened, and Oakland asked me to ignore it to make their jobs easier. They then spent the last 5 years of my life, ignoring, lying, falsely claiming innocence or declaring job done. At times they even tried to make me the BAD GUY. Now that I am at a very low point and weakened by all the extreme traumas; now they have picked up weapons and become the violent aggressors. It must've looked like fun beating a woman and a child. Whatever their reasons, their deeds are done. What loveliness do I have to look forward to tonight?

Old railroad tracks with potholes and cracks. Very bad combination for me. My bicycle got caught up in it and threw me down. My left arm was basically shattered into pieces. 3 complex fractures. I spent almost a week in the hospital and underwent major surgery. I am now looking at a long term disability. This is one of the worst things that could happen to a homeless mother of a 4 year old, who is already suffering from severe head trauma, vision loss and never ending whooping cough.
I now have to be readmitted to the hospital for serious complications. Just wondering how many more issues will my family have to suffer from, that the city of Oakland, has a hand in?
A week after I crashed some of the street damaged were repaired. A very small some.
  • West Oakland Bart Oakland, California - South Prescott
The restrooms at West Oakland Bart are mysteriously closed for days now. A bart police officer said laat week it was a water issue. Hmm...Porta potties are out back. But they are over full, completely barren of supplies and have trash littering them. Since this is the ONLY public restrooms available all the way to Emeryville, I feel this is as much a city issue as a bart issue.
Second issue: Raimondi Park was the other public restrooms in the Lower Bottoms. It to has been completely locked down for weeks now as well. Maintenance claimed a boiler problem. Seriously. For a restroom that offers no hot water to begin with.
If this is some attempt to subvert the homeless and get them to leave town... It's rude is what it is. There is no way that forcing 80%of the public to suffer, in order to eradicate what society has deemed an unworthy cause; something I consider acceptable. Or legal.
So West Oakland Bart and city officials; if this is indeed the truth we are being told, then why hasn't there been a single moment of repair work to either place?
I haven't seen one truck or repair person or one posted notice anywhere.
For bart to have a " water issue" and not send out a repair crew is an outrage. This is the largest mass transit agency in the bay area. Snap to it.
As for the " boiler problem" at Raimondi Park; do not make me laugh and throw up at the same time. That restroom is not even fitted with faucets for hot/cold water. True it has a shower room. For men only. Again, it is not fitted for hot/cold water.
City of Oakland and BART, the purpose of this statement to MY community, is this. I am a homeless woman. With a small child. And my life partner. We were not always homeless. We did not choose this or cause it. We have gone above beyond and over what is required to find our family a home again. This has been ongoing for THREE YEARS NOW. My child is 4 1/2 years old.
This city, this county has received over 158 MILLION DOLLARS FROM GOVERNMENT FINDING, IN THE LAST FIVE YEARS TO FIX IT'S HOMELESS HELL. Don't let me give you a number for private sector money. That would make all of you cry and throw up. None of you would laugh. All of you need to wake up. You, the taxpaying, fine citizens of Oakland have been forced to live in a trash filled, dead man's land for the last 10 years. Almost NONE of the funds that have been recieved by Oakland for Homeless people, have ever really gone to the homeless people. I have personally dealt with ANY AND ALL agencies to get my family out of this rollercoaster to hell. I have been given exactly as follows.
1- Emergency homeless Assistance Motel voucher Jan 2015 16 days/ $60 per day.
1- Emergency homeless Assistance Motel voucher Jan, 2017 4 days/ $60 per day
1- accepted Victim of Crime Compensation letter good for move in to a new place OF THERE IS A LANDLIRD WHO WILL SAY YES AND WAIT TO BE PAID AND ACCEPT THE FACT THAT I HAVE NO MONEY NO JOB AND NO SECTION 8. All of which, never had to be my issue. Losing my vision due to an assault that was done by a homeless person visiting my new landlord. ( that person was also homeless and not receiving the proper Aid from Oakland. With the mental health issues she had, she should've been in a place to keep others safe from her. Instead left to run free she took my sight and forced my family back on the srreets we almost got out of. Almost. With NO HELP FROM ANY AGENCY PAID TO DO SO. WITH ZERO DOLLARS FROM ANY BUDGET FOR HOMELESS.
Three years in to this sick twisting vortex, we are still homeless, living in a broken ravaged rv, not registered and as of 4 am this morning, NOT AT ALL SAFE FOR MY BABY OR ANYONE TO LIVE IN.
Due to the very specific city laws, that were created to force homeless out or in jail or worse; we were Red Tagged for being an abandoned vehicle used for storage. We had to move for the third time this week. We woke up after 1am and began to relocate. Then Our rv sputtered, died and CAUGHT ON FIRE. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET ON PERALTA WEST GRAND AND MANDELA.
Yep, you heard right. Once again, another homeless scum, almost destroyed their disgusting, disease infested rv, right out on front street.
And YES, my baby was RIGHT THERE.
Trust me, I can hear those words in my head because i thought that way just like you do.
Who wasn't there? The police, the fire department, Red Cross, Crisis Intervention teams, any other official agency.
In the past 4 years I have suffered from cancer, then traumatic brain injury causing completely destroyed visual capabilities, permanent whooping coughfor a year, two weeks ago my arm was shattered in three places from hitting old railroad tracks with cracks and potholes, and now my rv is our of the picture.
I WILL NOT RECIEVE ONE IOTA OF HELP FROM ANWHERE. I CAN ALMOST BET MY LIFE ON IT. Since the game was rigged from the beginning, that will be a winning BET.
If you're confused about why this is in a post regarding restrooms, it's simple.
I have nowhere to go potty. Neither does my baby. We already have nothing. Now WE CAN'T EVEN FIND A RESTROOM.
NO THIS WILL NOT CONVINCE US TO LEAVE OAKLAND. Guess why.
Because it's worse everywhere else. Because homeless definitely means BROKE. I definitely means no other options. It definitely means"WE NEED HELP FROM OUR COMMUNITY TO GET A HOME."
OBVIOUSLY WE NEED YOUR HELP. OR WE WOULDN'T STILL BE HOMELESS.
I know this will feel harsh. I can not apologise for any offense what I am saying will cause. It's the truth. I need to say it as much as you need to hear it.
The communities of Oakland are the City of Oakland. If the cities agencies aren't doing their jobs to help my homeless family, its because the people of Oakland are allowing them to do so. I paid my taxes. I vote. I know I am responsible for what my city government does or doesn't do.
I am living proof that homeless are BEING DENIED HOUSING AND THAT THIS CITY IS CAUSING ALL OF THESE ISSUES POSTED HERE ON SEECLICKFIX.
I don't want to be trailer trash, setting my rv on fire in the middle of the night, WITH MY BABY INSIDE. I AM OVERLY ELIGIBLE FOR SO MANY SERVICES AND WAY OVERDUE TO BE ACCEPTED FOR HOUSING ON WAITLIST. Those waitlist that put already housed single men into one bedroom subsidised apartments, throwing us on the back burner. Or worse misplace us right off waitlist completely.
I could rant for the rest of forever.
I could tell you to quit wasting your anger on the homeless and the horrible ever-growing piles of trash. Trust me, no homeless person has refrigerators, mattresses or construction trash from remodeling a home.
That trash came from the Other Poor People of Oakland. That's the ones who can't afford to pay the insane garbage taxes, Oakland charges.
Oaklands State of Emergency for homelessness has been cause by Oakland, and its fire has been fueled further by those who have ignored reality.
The City and its officials, and its social services, have taken all your money, lies directly to you and continue to let things get worse. How Devries, Libby Schaff, Ms. Jackson, social worker supervisor at 2000 San Pablo Ave. B.o.s.s. Berkeley homeless HUB, Oaklands Front Door, and others; stop pocketing homeless funds. House me, Oaklands true homeless. Without hoops or extra policies orhousing trust funds or budgets for data collection. Or doggy daycares that cover huge city blocks. ( seriously). Then pickup all that trash. Fix those potholes. Community; they have the money, more comes everyday. Make them
Do what they've been paid to do.
  • 2728 28th St Oakland, California - Clawson
Homeless people have to be somewhere. Whether they have an rv or a tent or a shopping cart. Yes the law says its illegal to live in an rv and park it in one place for more than 72 hours. But nobody is taking into account the extremely horrible housing problem that has developed. Everyday I see more of these reports about rvs and tents. I understand how it feels and looks to those who have homes. Its disconcerting. Yes technically it is violating code enforcement. But the way our society has changed in the last few years has made it impossible for the poorest of us to follow some of these rules. Literally. Where should this rv move to? There are no rv parks available. The city has not taken any steps to alleviate this problem. For you or us.
I suggest, officials designate temporary rv locations. Not necessarily huge rv parking lots. But they could use emergency funds to establish small locales, equip them with water hookups and portable bathrooms/ showers.  There are plenty of city owned sections scattered throughout Oakland capable of this temporary solution.  I believe they are under the listing of FEMA buildings.
As I understand it FEMA is supposed to aid in times of emergencies or natural disasters. We have paid countless tax dollars for that entity. We might not have been flooded or endured a hurricane or an earthquake; but I do consider this a very destructive situation. This has become years long. I dont see it ending tomorrow or next year. I dont see it ending for years to come. It is too deep seated of a wound on our community. We need to start healing not harming.
I know its not pretty to see us outside your homes. But violating us for living, will not solve your problem. Help us not hate us. Please.
    Thanks for your attention!🚩
