Curious kekec why this was closed by you

I didn't close it, as a matter of fact this is the 3rd or 4th time I am trying to get it resolved!

This is still a problem. We need a fully implemented crosswalk here and drivers speed through this intersection regularly. The current situation is extremely dangerous for pedestrians.

agreed! and even though no one will address this issue, yesterday they painted new lines for a crosswalk that shouldn't be there!

The crosswalk that connects the two sides of State St should be fully implemented. Instead, it was removed.

If this is regarding the former crosswalk at State St. and Kingsley, it was removed because we are not able to make all access points ADA compliant. The crosswalk will not be reinstalled at this time and unfortunately we are not able to give a time frame for a resolution.

many cross walks have been removed. This leaves pedestrians in a no man's land. Why should they walk another block to cross. Planning.

While the stairs that are out of picture to the left are a problem for the crosswalk that was removed, there is no reason there can't be a sidewalk put in on the South side of Kingsley. There's even already a sidewalk stub going to the street, visible in the background of the picture (although no curb ramp). That would adequately replace the crosswalk that you removed, and provide a route that is free of stairs.

The potholes look horrendous too.

I suggest installing an ADA compliant pedestrian crossing on the south side of the intersection as it will minimize the intrusion on the brick and there is already an inlet started on the east side.

Since this issue was never acknowledged, I believe it will never get proper attention. That happens sometimes. Karen, you might want to close this (if you are able) and open a brand new issue on the same subject.

The City is prohibited from removing crosswalk approaches on the grounds of ADA infeasibility. This is a result of the Consent Decree issued as a result of AA Center for Independent Living et al vs City of AA, US Eastern District, case 04-73352. The city has acted in contempt of court here. It's also against the law, as the Federal ADA also prohibits removing facilities on the grounds of infeasibility.

Don't cross there if it's muddy. These laws must always retain the common sense that they spawned from.

Hopefully your health insurance will cover the cost of medical needs if you trip and fall in the mud.

What mud? The stairs were replaced with ramps and this crosswalk was reinstated years ago. Are you just looking for something to complain about?

This was fixed in the spring of 2019.
