We would love to get these eyesores out from in front of our houses. I am president of the Magnolia Heights Neighborhood Association and many of our residents, myself included, find this bins way too large to fit through the gates to our yards so we have no choice but to leave them as yard decorations. Some of us may eventually be able to leave them in alleys for pickup but many do not have that ability. Smaller bins are needed.

I agree. This whole blue bin/recycling fiasco is a farce. I had Sanitation come pick up mine. No way can I fill up that huge thing in addition to the regular bin. We do not have alley pickup.

The City believes it's an easy matter for older people to move these huge bins to the curb, then back "closer to the residence". Now instead of one, we have two to deal wity.

Our hope is that residents of the city will bring the containers up onto their property on their own. We would like to get the program going and start collecting recyclable materials before taking any action on containers left out on the curb. Once collection begins, we think many of these containers will be brought up onto the property. If not, our inspectors will begin tagging these containers and talking to the residents where they are left on the street.

Of course, this does not preclude residents of the city from talking to their neighbors, encouraging them to bring the containers up onto their property and to participate in the recycling program.

Well what are the provisions for Disabled residents? Quite an oversight?

You want to 'start collecting recyclable materials' so you can sell them to a recycling center while charging us to pick it up! Condos and businesses are not included in this farce and you would think they would generate a lot of trash. And only 'selected neighborhoods'. Should I feel honored?

The city ordinance requires that containers be stored to the side or the rear of the property, behind the front of the structure. Just having them "brought up onto the property" isn't going to prevent the city from citing you.

I find this recycling plant a complete eye sore off 275. It's literally ridiculous and the garbage along 275 is another ridiculous scene especially when you get close to the garbage mountain view. What is St Pete thinking. I do a lot of driving to many other counties in Fla and don't find garbage piles and garbage scattered all along the road like driving thru St Pete.
