Description
To keep it brief, my home inspection revealed that this property failed to obtain several permits which are required by the City. This property has a (beautifully renovated) two-car garage and in-law suite on top of it, for which I was advised no permit was pulled. The rental unit also has three exterior air conditioning units which were installed with no permit. My home inspection revealed that trees were removed without permit and several other external renovations were completed without the requisite permit. While it may be common sense to retain a home inspector to avoid these pitfalls, this sort of trap should not be permitted nonetheless.
If not already clear by the use of “my home inspection”, I will make it especially clear - I am not a home inspector and the aforementioned information is what was relayed to me by my home inspector. This is not information that I obtained nor verified through my own diligent search. I imagine that it is the responsibility of Code Enforcement to perform the necessary investigation and determine whether the claims can be substantiated.
