This has been reporting numerous times, but for whatever reason nothing is done about it. I get confused there sometimes, even though I have driven through there often. I slow down since I know someone is going to make the wrong move in that intersection.

What a great post...and where did you get the great photo? I'm unfamiliar with the intersection of Lead Mine Road and North Hills Drive, although I am in that area all the time. Will check it out. Thanks.

I live up the road off Lead Mine and I even am confused by this. I always go straight through the intersection at Lead Mine and Glenwood (not to the mall, but up Blue Ridge Rd.) and was in the wrong lane until my girlfriend corrected me. I think the far right lane is the only lane that is supposed to go straight and merges in to 2 lanes, one where you just go straight and the other where you can go straight or take a right onto Glenwood Ave. For ages I was not in the far right lane but the one next to that one before the merge and then just jumping in to the straight line. Bottom line is, it just isn't clear, even for a guy who has been taking that route to work for over a year.

Both of the right southbound lanes on Lead Mine Rd can go straight across the Glenwood Ave intersection to continue to Blue Ridge Rd. The far right lane just gets the option to turn right on outbound Glenwood.

This part of the roadway is probably repainted by NC DOT so the city can't make it get done any faster.

It's state maintained, I understand. I contacted DOT after labor day.

NCDOT refreshed these pavement markings in the spring of 2016. Closing this request-reopen if the markings are still an issue.

I use this route daily in the afternoons. Freshly painted lines won't fix the problem. Headed southbound on Leadmine, there are two small overhead signs that suggest lane choices but they are way too small to do any good. When Leadmine expands from two southbound lanes to five, there's a mad scramble. We need large signs similar to those on Glenwood that can be seen from a block away -- a good use for transporation bond money!. Also, cars turning left from North Hills Dr are squeezing into the intersection with Leadmine at the last minute, causing longer delays. If there's not a "Do Not Block" intersection sign, there needs to be one there and it needs to be enforced. Finally, is the North Hills/Leadmine light fully synchronized with the Glenwood Ave/Leadmine/Blue Ridge intersection to hold traffic on Leadmine until there's a green signal for southbound Leadmine?

Yes it is very confusing. I drive it daily so know which lane is which, but earlier this year another driver didn't and changed lanes into me damaging my front fender and both left doors
