Ridiculous - entitled. Too many parents in vehicles dropping off kids. They should be walking or riding bikes.

Park 2-3-4 blocks away and walk or have the kids walk. Double parking, blocking the bike lane - unsafe and unacceptable.

It’s crazy because these kids are old enough to walk a block to a car. Saint joes is just as bad but there the block the only travel lane.
These situations need enforcement beginning with a patrol car pulling up and hitting a siren to get people moving. No enforcement and people do what they want. It’s happening all over the island.

A sign that states No Double Parking (sign code: R39-2 (CA)) would help along with more enforcement. There can be an enforcement period. Plus, this type of traffic interferes with the students and other community members riding their bicycles. Bring up this up at a school meeting. Ridiculous!

Your report will help inform the City of Alameda’s work to achieve our Vision Zero goal of eliminating traffic fatalities and severe injuries. Later this spring or early next school year, the Alameda County Safe Routes to School program is planning to develop a School Safety Assessment with street safety recommendations for the area around Alameda High. So in the meantime, can an officer roll through occasionally around dismissal time to try to mitigate the problem until the city/county/school district figures out what to do? I would hate to see someone get injured because of a slow planning process.
