I had a funny incident at Elm and College this morning when I stopped my bike in the bike lane because I didn't trust a right turning car, and it turned out he then saw me, stopped and we seemed to be out-waiting each other. Very nice, but it does underscore even what turned out to be a careful driver's difficulty in seeing a cyclist coming up behind the driver's right shoulder. Frankly I still see the Elm Street bike lane as a big step forward even as is, though the video Gina Marie referenced shows how much better it could be. I'd like to see a video on dealing with Elm and Temple, where a busy bus stop is on the right of the lane and buses both cross the lane from left to right to get to their bus stop, and often pull into the lane from the right side to make the sharp turn onto Temple.
