The tennis tournament seems to become less and less attended every year. It also seems that it is not promoted locally to businesses or residents well. Maybe a tennis tournament is not the right use of the majority of market new happens resources. Is it time to find something that is more in line with the cultural fit of the city of New Haven to really sell the image of our great city.
Vote here if you think it's time to reconsider the tennis tournament as a use of tax payer dollars.

Been thinking about this for a while - but this past weekend finally pushed me. Was painting my fence, which backs up to a building on Grand Ave, and nearly got peed on by someone who decided to urinate on the opposite side of my fence, not knowing I was there.
Grand Ave between Olive and Jefferson is a drag on our neighborhood. Noise issues, drug use, littering, loss of businesses (looks like Olive & Grand Food Mart is shutting down) - it cuts right through our neighborhood and is an uninviting divider separating Lyon & William Streets from the rest.
It's time to clean this mess up.
Follow the Howe St model - not long ago, that wasn't a great place to be after dark. Now it's totally transformed.
Put up cameras to curb illicit activity, and improve pedestrian confidence at night.
Calm traffic and improve access by adding a bike lane (to connect with existing bike lanes downtown, and beginning on Grand Ave entering Fair Haven). Street parking - metered and/or resident.
This would be a serious quality of life improvement for neighbors, and connecting just-out-of-downtown businesses to a growing downtown.
Time to start a conversation.

52 Edgewood Way New Haven, CTSeems to have some dead or dying branches toward the top front left of the tree as seen from the street. A few small branch pieces came down into the street with the recent wind. Please take a look ASAP. Lots of traffic passes under where they would fall.
10 VotesFix it! Voted!Chapel Street Between Yale Ave And Central Ave New Haven, CTHere we go again....the chapel street raceway opened bright and early for all of the lacrosse tournament parents! Its amazing to watch their blatant disregard for the fact that they are in a residential neighborhood. Today's event includes them speeding down Chapel Street (from Yale Avenue) and turning left on Central Ave only to find that Central Ave is closed to thru traffic. At this point they turn around and speed back up Chapel Street to get in line for parking at the Yale Ave entrance to the Yale Bowl. Yes-that's right! The same entrance they already drove past but were feeling too entitled to wait in line I guess. Is it too much to ask for New Haven Police to have a police car parked on Chapel Street? I'm not looking to ruin anyone's day by having them get a ticket but police presence alone may curb some of this speeding.
17 VotesFix it! Voted!328 West Rock New Haven, CTSidewalk, (walking area) is severely damaged on West Rock Ave, in front of tennis courts and park. Hazardous for walkers, joggers, the elderly and playing children.
4 VotesFix it! Voted!294 Ct-243 New Haven, CT 06515, USAA right turn lane should be added for vista terrace, when heading on fountain towards downtown. There are two lights at this intersection, and the street is wide enough to accommodate an additional lane. By only having one lane there is unnecessary traffic back ups and confusion due to the second light, and lane added after vista terrace.
Thanks! Thanked!165 Alden Ave New Haven, CT 06515, USA
This is the sound of my urethane wheels on fresh asphalt. Skateboarding dream come true.
