This light is the worst, I go out of my way to avoid it since I don't like waiting for 10 minutes during which no cars are even driving through the light.
Josh I couldn't agree with you more. The puzzling thing is why these lights cannot work properly and reliably. The city fails to realize that so called traffic calming and cameras to catch red light runners would be unnecessary if ALL traffic signals in New Haven functioned properly. This is not new technology so I don't understand. I've seen school buses and police cars run lights because they do not work. Let's fix them once and for all so we can move on to other issues! These should not require so much babysitting.
This is a chronic problem. Perhaps we need lines or other pavement markings to help motorists know exactly where they need to align their vehicles in order to make the light change. Meanwhile more talk about traffic calming and other "solutions". Can't we find out why other towns can purchase traffic signals that work and we can't? This issue is rampant throughout the city.
