Deskripsyon

We are a group of neighbors who want to paint a mural on the walls of the Trumbull Street underpass on State Street. The site is an underutilized threshold between two neighborhoods, and we believe that injecting color, light, and cleanliness to it will make it more used and loved. The proposed name of the project is "Colorful State".

Park New Haven manages parking lots on both sides of the bridge (on the East side of State Street). PNH could be looked towards for ongoing maintenance of one of the sidewalks under the bridge and perhaps power if needed (there's a meter at the State/Trumbull lot).
Soon - PNH will be looking to invest in the State/Pulaski lot in calendar year 2019/2020. Could create new fence line/opportunity for engagement for consideration with this project.

CTDOT will be permitting agency, with a maintenance agreement held by City of New Haven. Will need design to be approved by CTDOT; TT&P/Engineering can provide new LED fixtures for underpass when time is right.

This was a lovely mural but increasingly it has become defaced with graffiti. Apart from the disrespect for the work done to improve the space, it messages that no one is watching. What a shame.
