No parking sign should be put on both sides of Wincheser Ave for weekdays, it is safe for people driving the car, taking the shuttle or just crossing the street, this area is a heavy traffic area and it should be taken into consideration seriously.
This is an active driveway and visibility exiting the parking lot is very poor. Limiting parking on either side of the lot driveway would reduce the risk for those exiting the lot.
It is very hard to see cars coming in either direction when pulling out of this lot on Winchester Ave Was almost hit a few times and the cars don't slow down either. Please put no parking signs at yellow curbs.
This is at present legally permissible parking. To amend the regulations for on street parking at this location please encourage the owner of the building adjacent to the driveway to reach out to Traffic Operations Engineer Bruce Fischer who can be reached at
(203) 946-8073 or bfischer@newhavenct.gov. Thank you.
It is very difficult to see cars coming in either direction. There have been a number of times that I've been trying to exit the parking and as I'm SLOWLY moving forward to look to the right a car is coming from the left. This is extremely dangerous for all parties involved - especially with the winter weather approaching. God bless the people in the cars that can't stop in time. No Parking signs show be posted on Winchester Ave. at least 100 feet on both sides of the 25 Science Park Parking Lot driveway.
Exiting the parking lot is a risk every time. You're unable to see traffic coming from either direction. Cars drive at a moderate speed in this location. The parking lot exit is close to an intersection where cars can frequently be found driving at a faster speed to make it through the light.
This is a bad parking lot exit regardless of the driver making a left or right turn. By the time the driver has crept out far enough to see oncoming traffic their car becomes a traffic hazard. Bus and truck traffic on the street makes it even more dangerous.
I rarely use this parking lot, but just last week, I was cautiously exiting this parking lot and was nearly hit by a car coming down the street. My first thought was--wow, that was scary!! I hope I don't have to use this lot before the requested changes are made.
Drivers often fly down Winchester Ave and the lack of visibility coming out of the driveway is extremely dangerous. There are close calls here everyday. No parking signs on each side of the driveway is a low cost solution that would improve safety for drivers and pedestrians.
This is definitely a hazard. When you're exiting the lot you have to pull out into the lane of traffic to see if there are any oncoming cars. Also, due to the long line of parked cars I don't think most drivers on Winchester even know there is a driveway there so they aren't expecting anyone to be pulling out. I have almost been hit several times.
good afternoon; we continue to monitor the crash data in the area. as of yet, no crashes due to the issues stated above. speed appears to be factors in the data to date - and two cases of drivers trying to brake and missing the brake pedal. the department is closing this for now - however if this continues to be an issue you may always re-open, contact the garage/property owner, engage your alder, engage the PD for additional enforcement of speed.
