I work here and think that it's important to have a place to sit while waiting for the bus. There are several other bus stops up Church and Whitney, toward Hamden, that also need benches.

Also curious to know the plan to get a caretaker - maybe Lucien, me, and other people who work in this building can look into that together.

Ultimately, I'd like to see a solution like the one proposed here: http://seeclickfix.com/issues/207774-excess-road-capacity-need-to-widen-sidewalk-bus-stop-and-convert-1-lane-into-bike-lane -- Unfortunately, at this location the sidewalk is a bit narrow to do something that's larger-scale than a Chairigami bench or two, but that can easily be solved with some creative engineering.

Thanks for the support all. I will start by taking it in and out. Hopefully someway along the line I can make a deal with the building and keep it in the lobby.

Zach here from chairigami. So glad the benches are a hit! Thanks to Ben for making it all happen. I want to support the effort and have decided to donate a second bench to this location if the second half of the funds are raised for this bench. My idea is to have the second bench be interactive by writing a question on it like "before I die I want to..." or "what get's you up in the morning?". It would be a great way for people to share their hopes, dreams, and motivations with the community!

Sweet Business! So close I can almost taste the Cardboard!!

So, Ben I'm here planing to give my 12 but The cardboard material is not going to hold up , especially now with so much rain. Why cardboard? I tough was something more permanent or at least more durable like plastic structure. What kind of job this guy dose? Or maybe can be use for indoors ? Donated to some school or daycare? This is not really a good option for an outdoors project still like the idea to support a local business sorry I will hold up my 12. Claudia

i understand your concerns. the cardboard was thought of b/c it's cheap and if it gets destroyed or removed, no one will miss it. the cardboard benches are taken in and out by businesses each day and they're coated with a material to help with resistance to liquid. take a look at the benches outside the SeeClickFix headquarters on Chapel Street (across from ECM at State Street) for an idea of how well they work.

so far, people use them and they haven't been destroyed. not too bad for a low cost fix!
