I think if they were not hurting anybody, and just passing through, then nobody was bothered by it but you. If they are there for a week or so, or others join them and it really becomes a 'town', then there is concern.

I have not gone back there to check on the situation, guest. Perhaps you are right. Living for a night or two in the park, not hurting any person, and perhaps by their presence suggesting in an unspoken way to others that here is a place to live for awhile in nice weather in a beautiful park, that also is not bothering anybody but myself and maybe another person or so. Then another person, a man, might live for a day or more in the corner within Chapel Street and Academy Street. For a 3 or 4 days there. And so it becomes clearer to those who seek such nice camping areas within the city, then maybe another person finds a favorite small place there to live for a few days. And others might discover the same ability for enjoyment in the park, and their stay might overlap with yet more who find this place inviting.
The more I think on the possibilities the more am I convinced that you are not right, that the flood gates are easily opened yet difficult to close to the rushing water.

Mahfouz, thinking about 'possibilies' and doing some exaggerated extensions of logic are not helpful. I could think about 'possibilies' of who you are and what you do based on the name you have and then someone could come and lock you up, based on racial profiling, but such fantastical extensions of logic are really counterproductive. If it's the young couple who was camping out in the children's playground on Wooster Street a couple of weeks back, then there needs to be a different place for them. She (v. short hair, white, apparently high on something) was snorting up under a blanket on the playground bench; they had hidden stuff among the leaves around the perimeter of the playground to come back for later. There's a third man who hangs out with them (also young, white, strongly built—you sometimes see him panhandling at the College/Frontage intersection with a "homeless" sign); last time I was in the playground he was "looking for his keys" around the perimeter. We called the police but they were gone by the time they arrived.
Hopefully this is a different couple.
