I've mentioned this, well, maybe about 1,000 times before. Trail cameras are cheap. Why not get CREATIVE with illegal dumping enforcement? For a couple hundred bucks the NHPD and/or Parks Department could buy a couple trail cameras and experiment. I could show you the half dozen places in East Rock Park where I see the most dumped trash. It seems to happen at the same places.
Or do the exact opposite: admit defeat and make the little turnout halfway up Farnam Drive an official dumping station and at least try to have all the crap dumped in one place. (Note: I would think this is NOT the preferred option.)
I've seen your previous posts Rob. I agree cameras would be the best route to go. I figure I'll report every time I see a dumping along this road, since I commute down this street every morning, and maybe the city will take notice. On a positive note, I have noticed that the trash is removed the same or next day after it has been reported.
Thanks Linda. I'll keep reporting them too. It's sort of heartbreaking to see isn't it? It seems to be an issue worth some sort of PSA campaign. Talk about a "quality of life" issue! I am again reminded of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7OHG7tHrNM
The Parks Department is trying to better manage SCF issues and are closing old issues. While we know illegal dumping and litter continue to be a concern, these specific issues should have been addressed. Please continue to report new locations with cross streets or paths or other visual cues to help us address more quickly.
We are closing older 2013-2016 Illegal Dumping Issues found on Public Spaces (roads, tree belts, sidewalks) in order to focus on current Issues. Many of the older issues were addressed through our Streets Division but were never closed. If your “public space illegal dumping” issue has not been addressed, please open a new See Click Fix issue. Thanks
