I keep hearing that downtown New Haven needs a Pho restaurant. Maybe this location on Court Street would be good?

If I am correct, that Vietnamese cuisine is milder than Thai cuisine, then I prefer the Vietnamese cuisine for the more subtle flavors. The restaurant that was near the corner of Trumbull and Church/Whitney was excellent at first, but there was not enough business to 'thrive', and slowly it went down so that he was selling food that had expired, and nobody liked that. It gets to be a vicious cycle then, losing business because of expired food and food expiring because not enough business. I suggest offering a broader menu.
I don't know what 'Basil' is, and I don't know why Ben said something is corrected to Court St?

Basil is on Howe St, between Elm and Whalley. At its core it is Thai, but they branch out to other cuisines. I think they serve pho.
I believe Ben was responding to the initial impression that the suggestion was for Wall St, clarifying that we're actually talking about Court St, between Orange and State.
I think the crux of this post, though, is that we are not looking for another homely restaurant, per se. What I have in mind would be more of a noodle bar, with spartan, modern decor, and a fanatical chef, whose antics and devotion to pho draws in people from the Shoreline and Fairfield County, venturing over from the train station to see if they are WORTHY of the noodles.
