Every day along the 2100 block of Bainbridge there are several parking spots blocked with cones and trash cans. Usually, someone is standing outside in the morning waiting for cars to move to put the cones out. I fear removing the cones myself would cause harm to my vehicle, how can we get this to stop?

This is not the only block in the vicinity where this occurs; there are other ignorant, inconsiderate people, who believe they are special. It is illegal, and the only recourse is to call the police. Unfortunately it is difficult to get the police to respond. I have tried many times, only twice with success. SOSNA holds a meeting once a month where the 17th police district attends. You may want to attend and bring up the issue. Also, related to this issue, both a PPA and Police officer told me they have the option to waive ticketing for religious purposes, persons attending church services. I could go on...in short, both had subsided for awhile, possibly because of the neighborhood complaints, but both recently seem to be in high numbers again. I plan on attending this month, with a few of my neighbors. Check the SOSNA website.

So the 17th told you that they have an option to ignore illegal activity? On 4/1/12, several church members of the Apostolic church (at 22nd and Bainbridge) are illegally parked on the sidewalks in the area. If they can illegally park their cars where they want on a Sunday--the cars I saw all had out of state plates-- we, as tax paying citizens of Philly should also park our cars where ever we want on a Sunday-- the sidewalks, bus lanes, bike lanes, turning lanes, anywhere. If the police won't enforce the law for these out of state members of a church, how can they possibly ticket our cars for doing the same thing?

So, the 17th is saying that they have an option to waive ticketing (ignore illegal activity) just because church people are parking illegally on a Sunday? Today, 4/1/12, the congregants of the church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith were parked on the sidewalk on 22nd between Pemberton and Bainbrigde--all tags were from out of town. Next Sunday, why don't we, as tax paying citizens of the city of Philadelphia, start parking where ever we want on a Sunday?--sidewalks, bus and bike lanes, turning lanes, anywhere.
