Description
We here at 2647 Keele Street at Floral Parkway have been suffering for the last few years due to bridge construction. Last fall, they blocked off Floral Parkway, then dumped a large pile of earth and building blocks in front of our building. It made access to the first building impossible from the front in the winter and still does. We have handicapped and elderly and small children living here and this is a danger to navigate, not to mention the filth and mess. Also, consruction workers work all night, shaking the building and keeping residents awake. Apparently the contractor got a waiver from the city to be able to work all night. Please help!!!!!!

As of June 19th, 2014, the mountain is still there and growing. There is a lot of garbage caught on the mound and weeds are starting to grow on top. There are rodents darting about through the broken bricks and concrete popping out from the mud. The storm catch basins are covered in mud and garbage. During the storm two days ago, the rainwater bypassed the basins and flooded Keele Street by the on ramp to the 401 east.
The bridge workers are out in full force, of course when they start their shift AT 10:30 PM every night weather permitting. They shout and whistle loudly at eachother right behind our bedroom windows as they cannot hear themselves speak over the noise generated by their bobcats and dumptrucks ~ this goes on until roughly 5:00 am when they go home to sleep. and this is in its third year already.
Toronto is a hypocritical city. There is a noise bylaw and cerfew for 11:00 pm ~ but those who pay the most can dance around any bylaws and the government can break their own rules oblivious to the feelings and access needs of the elderly infirm, disabled, children students and working class people who live here.

The barriers are blocking the entrance sidewalk to the first building making it difficult for our tenants visitors and even the mail man to gain access. Construction commences at 6:00 am with workers using Floral pkwy as a parking lot, shouting back and forth at eachother and disturbing all the tenants that face the street. They are also blocking both sides of the street and access to the fire hydrant. Construction is also continuing on all night long.

We have even witnessed the city workers harassing some of our tenants when they were approached. We cannot open our windows, and when temperatures soar above 80f, it becomes a health issue as many of these people do not have air conditioning.
We have formed an assembly and will rotate videotaping the city crews at work after midnight by our children's windows and swearing, and we will be posting every tape to youtube until this stops.
