Description
GARDINER / Lower DVP
Very Dangerous Driving/ road condition when it rains / snows, NO Drainage. Every time it rains / snows, the lower end of the DVP and the Gardiner from the DVP to about Spadina turns into a dangerous road both ways. The drainage is so poor / non existent that there is always standing water in at the Center Lane barrier. The drainage is so poor it is not working. When you're driving there, you will either get severe aquaplaning even at low speed or your car gets swamped by water from a car in the opposite lane, leaving you blind to all the traffic around you.. This issue has been going on for way too many years and it has never been fixed. Will somebody have to die before this is fixed? The driving conditions are ridiculous with just a little rain, when it rains heavy it is the most dangerous road in Toronto, a fatality is just a matter of time. The Gardiner get's closed all the time for all sorts of reasons, maintenance, marathons, bike rides, how about using one of those closures fixing it for drivers who have no choice but using it every day? This is hands down the dumbest construction I have seen anywhere in the world, surely Toronto is capable of hiring someone to fix this issue?

It will take a fatal accident to wake up those in charge and then they will claim : we didn't know. Here's a test: show this to 1st year engineering students and ask them what is wrong with this. Be patient for the answer, they will spend quite some time rolling on the floor laughing.
What a disgrace to have such a severe danger built into a brand new road.
