    the residents of Jelks Way have have impaled beautiful, healthy trees with flag poles. the flags look great, but what a horror to pound the flag pole brackets into live trees. could they attach the flag brackets to the building? or put up special poles for that purpose? I understand that the city and/or county is serious about tree health. why would this be allowed?

    There is at least one gopher tortoise on the former Walter Farley tract on Gulf Drive that's being developed by Caithness Construction. A check with FWC found that the owner of the lot received a gopher tortoise relocation permit (Permit #GTT-16-00301) in 2016 after finding burrows but never followed through with the tortoises' removal. That puts the current construction activity in violation of Florida regulations; a complaint has been filed with FWC law enforcement but given Venice City's oversight over land clearing, I'd like to ask the city to look into the matter as well.

    The green turn signals to turn on to Jacaranda from US41 to head towards 776/Englewood are not working properly. For the past week the lights are going through a minimum of 3 cycles and never giving the turn signal for that direction. People are running the red light and tempers are flaring.
