Description
The outlet for Upper Longview Lake is blocked with debris and is now underwater, which is causing the water level on the lake to be very high. Believe it or not, under this debris is the outflow grate for the lake, and with it blocked like this I estimate the lake is about 2 feet higher than normal.
It's not clear who is responsible to keep this clear, but since this is impacting water drainage and flow, I wanted to let the city know.
Additionally, I'm noticing some water seepage into my yard (204 Longview Lake Dr.), and I believe that it's due to the higher-than-typical water level, which is seeping through the dam/road. When the lake is normal level, this does not occur.
If clearing the drain is the responsibility of the HOA that owns the land around the lake, please apply appropriate pressure on them to fix this asap and to keep this drain cleared. We don't need more flooding problems from the lake.
Thank you!

My name is Jason Moon, Program Manager for the City of Raleigh Stormwater Maintenance Unit. You can reach me at my direct extension at 919-996-5752. This grate is the responsibility of the homeowners association and this concern will need to be directed to them. When the upper and lower lakes were recently overhauled, the maintenance responsibility for the upper grate was determined to rest with the homeowners association while the City of Raleigh accepted the responsibility for the lower. Please forward your concern for the upper grate to the homeowners association.
