What occurred last night was not brush clearing. They were responding to a diesel oil spill that occurred on private property but entered the city stormwater collection system. A city contractor responded to locate and clean up the diesel oil. This is an emergency response. Once notified, by law, the city is required to respond immediately. The contractor used an inductor truck to vacuum the fuel and water and vacuum the materials used to absorb the residual fuel. S. Belieu, Public Works Supervisor.
